Ford F150 2.7 ecoboost
Does anyone pull an Airstream with the 2.7 ecoboost? If so what? I am looking to purchase an Airstream. With my owner's manual, my tow limit is 7600lbs with payload 1600lbs Dealers told me I could pull a 30ft Classic without difficulty. What are your opinions? THanks

If you go by tow ratings, a 30 ft Classic is beyond the tow rating of your truck (unless you plan to pull an empty trailer).
But then again, there are folks here that truly believe you can tow a 10,000# 34'er with a minivan.
I guess you have to decide which camp you belong in.

I have the 5.0 but with very similar tow limit and payload ratings. I'm currently pulling a 30' trailer but it's only short trips in the east and I pack light. It's also the truck I owned before I bought the trailer.
While the truck pulls and handles fine, I'd go with something rated at higher capacities if I were you and was looking for a new truck.

Not enough truck no doubt. Do not rely on the Airstream dealers to tell you about towing. They just want too get the trailer out the door. At the very least a 3.5 echo boost and the lower the trim rating the more payload capacity you will get.

We used to tow our Airstream 30' Bunkhouse with our F150. It had the tow package and tow capacity of 9,000. Over all it performed ok. Several trips over the Continental Divide. Slow but steady.
We just purchased new 30' International and upgraded the truck to Chevy Silverado w/tow package and 11,000+ tow capacity.
I'd be nervous towing 30' Classic with F150 2.7.

Stay within the PUBLISHED specs.That way your 'ass' is covered in case of an upset.
Just imagine that you are in court as a defendant from an accident; and the prosecuter askes you about the capabilities of your equipment.
If you are OUTSIDE of the published ratings; what will your answer be????

Good question.... I asked the same with the sales rep recently. There is a good thread on this here: F150 vs F250
Here is my post.
Hi.... I went to the Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale and had a long conversation with a Ford rep who was showing their 2016 F150. I told him I have a 2014 F150 Ecoboost with tow package and was towing my 25f FC with it. I asked him if I needed to be concerned over power, overheating, capacity, etc and he told me with that engine, it will pull great up and down mountains without problems. Now maybe some of this was sales talk but I got into details with him and he said that we may use a little more in gas over the 5L engine while going up hills but overall they equal out. His recommendation was to stay with the Ecoboost 6. He did say the key was the greater tow capacity with the tow package. That makes this truck a beast for towing (his words).

F150 ECOBoost -- Excellent Towing Torque
We have a 25 foot Flying Cloud. Our 2000 F150 with 5.4L V8 was underpowered! We bought a 2012 F150 ECOBoost and we are extremely pleased with the torque, 420 foot-pounds! You have reserve passing power up any hill. The transmission has a towing mode which provides engine braking when descending hills. And the truck is very quiet. Highway, non-towing gas mileage is over 21 MPG using regular unleaded.

As already said, dealers are selling not looking after your best interest. You must get to the point where you know more than the salesman or you are at risk most of the time. There are good sales folks but they are few and far between in terms of any real towing and tow vehicle capacity knowledge.
Avoid buyer's remorse, buy once, and get what you need up front.

From your description of torque, sounds like you have the 3.5 Ecoboost, rather than the smaller one about which this gentleman is inquiring? That's a great engine, but not sure whether the smaller one will do the job.

Second the remarks from billeppo! The F-150 with V6 3.5 Ecoboost is a good hauler - factory trailer package is really thorough with brake controller, traction assist, and tow/haul gearing shift points. We pull an 05 Safari 22, which is not terribly heavy, but I like about a 50% reserve. That way you just won't be having to explain deficiencies, because nothing bad will have happened. Remember that original AS were lighter, and designed to be pulled by the family car or a light truck, but at much reduced speeds, in less intense traffic.

My 30' Classic has 8,800# on the wheels at the Cat scale.
Assuming 880# tongue weight- underestimating- total weight 9,680#.
We do tend to carry lots of clothes, food, and dishes.

new 2.7 ecoboost and 23cb
Hello I have the 2018 f150 xlt 2.7 ecoboost with tow package. Pulls my 23cb not problem at all. I have to want to get over 2200 rpm but when needed can easily accelerate up a grade.
I THINK it will pull a 25 but I KNOW it pulls and controls a 23 just fine.
The 23 is rated to hold 6000lbs but I keep it round 5300lbs as I dont think it wise to max out our trailers for the same reason we dont max out towing capacity on the TV.
