Hi, yes; And real trucks aren't Ford, Chevy, or Dodge. Real trucks are Kenworth, Mack, and Peterbuilt.

Ah Diesels....now the conversation has morphed to a topic I feel competent to talk about.

Diesels are expensive, heavy, expensive to maintain, burn expensive fuel, and really don't make that much better fuel mileage with all the emissions equipment that must be used on them these days. Certainly not enough better to make it pay.

However, if you ever tow a heavy trailer with a gas truck, and then switch to a Diesel, you will not want to go back.

Another decision you will have to make....is the ease of driving and towing worth the cost? You know what my decision was, and I would only say I would probably go back to a gas truck if I were towing a 25 footer or lighter.

Since this discussion has morphed into a gas/diesel dialog, I will take it upon myself to start a new thread to host a gas/diesel interchange.

Any modern pick-up discussion will end up with the fuel debate

With all of the new urea DEF (Diesel Emissions Fluid) components, and sensors, if one thing goes wrong, the sensor will shut off the engine or put it into idle only. How does that work in the middle of no-where? No thanks, I was a diesel head for many years, but I got converted back to gas and will never look back. I don't miss anything about a diesel. I've said it again and again, as far as towing an AS, there is no requirement to have a diesel truck as a TV, you WANT one but you surely do not NEED one. To each his own. Consider that some on this forum will swear that a passenger car can tow better and more safely than a 3/4 or 1 ton pickup, vs the need for a diesel TV. The two situations are very far apart IMHO.

I was all ready to purchase a newer 2012 2500HD GMC Sierra, but then my wife and I had a newer Ford Edge as a rental for two weeks in Portland. Needless to say, I loved the car. I've always been a GM guy really, but once in my early 20's I owned a Mustang. Presently we own a Trailblazer, a Corvette and a Pontiac G8 GXP, all of which I'm selling in the short term right this second.

Back to my point, the Ecoboost looks really promising, I've found a few with payloads closer to 1700 (not the max payload) but higher than the lower payload a few folks have complained about.

From my calculations, even with assuming a 1000lb hitch, I should have about 360lbs left in payload after myself, my child and wife. My tool box might weight an extra 50lbs but I'm not sure I need an 1000lbs of available payload. I'm not sure what I'd do with it.

2500 seems like a no brainer, but I just don't want such a large vehicle, and there seems to be so many folks pulling with the smaller trucks.

Plus, GM's trucks have had a disappointedly rental car feeling about their interiors, as in BORING.

Thought I'd stir the pot. We were looking at getting a 2014 27FB's but now as of today my mind has moved towards a used 09 ~ 12 25-27FB International Signature. Still a little undecided, but I've been using the 14 GVWR in my math.

The topic is almost like discussing religion or politics in some of the threads.

Remember, F150 and F250-F350 are completely different trucks.
Where are you getting that? GM is getting slaughtered in the HD market, especially in the 1 ton class.

This changed on the Ford Diesel in 2013. At least, it is not like that on my 2013 F-250 Platinum. Now a bad sensor will throw an error code and shutoff the exhaust cleaning filter but it will not put the truck in limp mode.

Now you will get a warning to service the truck immediately.

As for needing a diesel to pull an AS, absolutely not, but here in Colorado it sure helps for those climbs to the State Parks and for those steep descents.

Hi, trying to confirm or read about what trucks out sell the others. One link doesn't work and the other only states light trucks with no reference to 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. I don't see a slaughter either. Maybe I'm blind or missing something.
