I do not have enough respect for the buying decisions made by the American public in general to allow me to think the the number of any particular item sold has much relevance on its value or worth. If you don't believe that, look at the number of Justin Bieber recordings sold.

Yep, we've got a recall for a software update to our 2014 Ram 1500 for the remote keyless entry / push-button starting system. Apparently, sometimes it decides to stop responding to the key fobs and then hilarity ensues.

We chose our Ram over an F150 primarily because we wanted the better ride and better repair record, per Consumer Reports. We chose the Ram over the Tundra because the Tundra did not have an integrated brake controller option. We decided that if Tundra wasn't offering a towing package, Toyota wasn't really serious about towing with it. That last may have been silly because lots of people swear by their Tundra for towing, but decisions had to be made and I didn't want to spend time / money adding towing gear to a brand new TV.

We otherwise loved the F150 and the Tundra. We were very keen on the F150's towing mirrors and the better gas mileage with eco-boost. The Tundra had lots of great features as well. We also liked the new Silverado 1500 - very nice! In the end, we settled on the Ram.

So far we've been very happy with everything about it, though I guess we better get it in for that recall service before it starts turning up its nose at our key fobs 200 miles from nowhere.

If you want to compare nuts to watermelons then go ahead. Again, the reason the Ford F-150 is so popular is it's track record as a work truck. More contractors and field businesses buy Ford F-150's that all the other brands combined. Low maintenance and dependability make it so. It is what it is and numbers do count when it comes to vehicles and their track record.

I'm starting to feel bad about my comment. To make up for it, which Justin Bieber song would you like a free copy of?

Just to be fair (as the graph I posted shows) Ford has been selling more F150's only in the past few years. Before that, and for many years, GM was selling more trucks. I tend to believe these trends are periodic. I would not be surprised if GM tops the truck sales in 5 years again.

Disclaimer: I am a Tundra fan and not involved in the Ford vs GM vs Ram truck wars

And GM sells more 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.
Remember, F150 and F250-F350 are completely different trucks.

At my current place of employment I have been involved with the annual bid for vehicles. We have mostly Ford work trucks because they always seem to be the low bid. Our maintenance department might differ in their opinion on your statement on maintenance and dependability......
They all break down at some point in time it's just a matter of when and which monkey is driving them. We are starting to get a few GM's in the fleet because their price has been more competitive recently and they offer a better warranty. 100k vs 60k. I can foresee getting a few Ram dump trucks in the future because our fleet of Ford 6.0 and 6.4 has been awful. Recently we had another 6.4 grenade - $15,000 for a new engine........
Since Ford got rid of the Ranger (bad move) we now have two Toyota Taco's in the fleet - it will be interesting to see how they hold up. They were more expensive then the F150....

I would have to agree with what Ken said earlier about what the majority of people buy isn't always the best. I feel the same way since I dumped my Windows computer and went to a Mac. Life got better!

Pappy - how much stock do you own in Ford?

Hi, USA Today reports on Jan 4, 2014; "Ford F-Series trucks remain the nation's best selling vehicle for 32 years". How can this be, if the above statements are true?

F150 is best selling "nameplate". In the past 32 years, there were many years that GM (Silverado + Sierra) sold more trucks.

Because they sell a lot of F150 trucks.
No one can argue that a F150 isn't a good truck.
