They now realize the spark plugs are supposed to stay in those little holes.

Just when I thought I knew about Fords...

......I run across this phrase "Bluetec fluid (urea)". What the heck is that?

Yep, since you must presist on this, the V-10 did have a slight problem in about 25% of the ones made from '99 to 2002, after which they didn't have any problems. Do you have anything to say about the Chevy diesels before the DuraMax came along? Even the first year or two of the DuraMax had some serious problems, so don't get too smug.

On other diesel web sites, there are some urea tanks on all of the newer diesels that are having a problem with the urea freezing in the winter and if that happens, you are stuck. The sensor shuts down and there you are. Also, if the urea tank goes to empty, you have the same problem, no go. Fortunately, my gas rig only has to worry about ethanol staying in my tank too long, but I run it enough not have that worry.

I can comment: I had a 84' Chevy crew cab that blew head gaskets about every 12k after the third time It was gone.

Then had a 94' Chevy Crew cab with the new real diesel engine. I had 6 injector pumps put on between 20K and 36k miles one even made it 3 miles from the dealership. I had no problem with the truck until I did a EPROM recall update then the pumps started failing.

And my Ford eab has never given me any problems...so I guess my Ford's better than 'yer's.

Now why don't we really hijack this thread and talk about Airstreams....

Just think of the poor fellow that started this thread asking a very simple question about the Eco-Boost.

The original poster did not ask a simple question.

Upon review he made a variety of suggestions and statements that "invite various oppinions".

Not a problem. I think most of us like "kicking the can" around these topics.

So what are you so pissed about? Are you prodigious or just a sorehead sometimes.. If you want to talk Airstream's in 1979 I bought my first Airstream in 1979 an Excella 500 31' Special Edition loaded at the age of 30.
I would like to know more about the people on here not sure what I did wrong answering someones comment on a automotive post.

The urea problem is overstated. The truck stops are full of it at good prices, the tank fill lasts a very long time (depending on load), and fuel mileage is improved as a result. The lower price of a truck without urea is offset by higher fuel consumption. The addition to the cpm calculation is low for urea use.

Pay now or pay later. Plus in the next year or three ALL the diesel pickups will be using it.

If the tank goes empty you have quite a ways to travel before the computer kicks back at you. Etc.

Link us, please, to forums with commercial users who are having these problems. I don't see it on general nor Dodge-specific forums.

The thread title is Ecoboost. Amazing how many people with diesels don't know the difference.

The new Consumer Reports tested the Ford 150 with the 5.0 engine and the EcoBoost engine. They didn't recommend the EcoBoost apparently because it is new and has no track record.

They said both Ford engines got 15 mpg, same as Tundra. I know our Tundra is better than that, but they probably test in urban areas where there isn't much ability to drive at highway speeds for very long. Chevies all were 14 mpg, but were highest in overall ratings. Tundra was rated more reliable than any other full size truck. Nissan Titan rated lowest overall. Dodge had lowest reliability.

CR's test didn't show any difference in gas mileage with the EcoBoost. I know this is different from previous posters' experiences. None of the CR mpg tests were when towing.

Lieing bas***ds! They obviously didn't check the onboard computer for a "snapshot" of the mileage.

I drove my Ecoboost over 300 miles yesterday at 70 to 75 mph down intestate and two lane country roads without thinking about gas mileage and was getting between 20.5 and 21. CR has no clue.

CR's highway mileage number with the Ecoboost (and the 5.0-liter) was 22 mpg. The 15 mpg is an overall figure that combines city, highway, and a mixed driving loop.

There's more information about towing (with a 7500-lb enclosed car carrier) with the two trucks on the blog here.
