Rich, It's been my observation they drive like that because they can, like many others that occupy positions within the organizations that are supposed to serve "we the people".

NIMC....

I'll try and take a photo of my TomTom and speedo at the same time, last time I checked they were right on.
Next time we're trip'n I'll use the TT for MPG cal, just to see if there is an appreciable difference.

I know how inaccurate the speedo's can be, I wrote more than a few RO's asking us to check them because customers got a ticket and swore they weren't speed'n. And 'ya know what...they were,, because the speedo's read LOW.

All the vehicles that I've owned, that I have been able to verify, have read fast, i.e. they indicated I was going faster than I was.

If memory serves correctly, this has also been the finding of Car and Driver when they've compared speedometers and odometers to their test equipment. A very few cars have been nearly exact (Lamborghini was one, I think) but most read faster than the car is actually traveling.

What a poorly-written article. It's written to suggest that there have been loss-of-power events reported in 400,000 pickups, and 2001-2013. Then it says the issue is with the 3.5l turbo direct-injection engine (the Ecoboost) that's only been available in the most recent series of the F150 since 2010 or 2011.

The journalists are as dumb as the lawyers, and at least as loose with the facts. It's a stupidly-written bit of FUD.

Yeah, 95 out of the 400,000 complained to the government (NHTSA).

There are three TSB.s for dealers to fix the problem, which I experienced and had fixed. All's well.

in my 94 dakota the speed showed lower by 4 mph @ 60mph but the odometer was exact. i was told the problem was in the speedometer head. (both were mechanical)

The problem with the Echo Boost was condensation. Wet weather and/or humidity. That problem has been resolved. On other forums some experienced the problem and has since been fixed.
