F150 suspension v. Tacoma

As a basis for comparison, I've towed this 19' Bambi with the '06 Tacoma 2x, crew for about 28,000 miles.

Now I'm towing with a new '10 F150, 2x, s-crew and now after just 1500 miles of some pretty nice roads (with the exception of Indiana!) there are things wildly moving around and self-destructing in my trailer that never happened before! Ever!

I'm using the same weight transfer hitch.

Same running speeds......set cruise on 57 and let'er eat.

Anyone else encountered anything like this?

I'm going to assume that the move from a compact PU to a stiffer, full fledged 1/2 T. rear suspension is at the root of the problem.

I'm seriously thinking about removing the overload leaf and trying that!

Load bars on your hitch may be too stiff for the heavier truck.

Hi Beerrun'r,
Before you do anything to your leaf springs, try adjusting your WD hitch. You may have your hitch set too stiff. What make/model of hitch do you own? I had to make some serious adjustments to my Equal-i-zer hitch last week in preparation for my F-150s first tow of my Sovereign. My old tow vehicle was a 03 Excursion that had a very stiff suspension compared to my F-150. The Excursion beat the hell out of my Sovereign causing several rivets in the front to shear off. I love the softer suspension of the F-150 but I had to take that into account when setting up my Equal-i-zer hitch. I suspect your problem is associated with your hitch rather than your truck's suspension.

Yep that tacoma is a much softer ride. Just like the others have said you need to change your WD to take into account the stiffer suspension.
