The adapter shim reducing the receiver from 2 1/2" to a 2" shank still is sloppy, and just replacing the shank, or getting a hitch already set up to fit whatever your receiver takes.

Talk about a 'stupid moment'. I turned around the F350 from going to a Breakfast Buffet at a Casino... hoping I could correct his in time. Now... for fresh doughnuts.
No worries. Sorry that your breakfast got sidetracked.

The 2017 F250 diesel definitely does come with a 3" reciever as well as 3- to 2 1/2 and 2 1/2 to 2" reduction sleeves. Using both sleeves would be like having Russian nesting dolls back there! I'll figure out something before the AS and truck get here.

Hi

When you buy a new F-250 or 350, it *should* come with a shim to take the 2.5" down to 2". It is worth checking for it when you pick up the truck. In *some* cases it does not seem to be part of the truck as delivered .... I have empirical data ....

Ray- I have that adapter shim in my new F250 and don't find it sloppy. Maybe tolerances on yours are different, but mine is fine.

Bob
I wondered whether that might be an issue. The marketing literature specifically mentions two adaptor sleeves for the 3" receiver but stuff like that does sometimes go missing and, sadly, many dealers know a lot less about their product than they should. One more thing to stay on top of at delivery time....
