Don't do the V-10, do the diesel. My last E350 van had the V10. The new one the 6.0 diesel and it gets double the mileage per gallon.

Hi the community;

i really don't know the f250 so i 've rent a F350 dually 7,9 liters, to tow my "new" overlander from North carolina to Florida... no problems in power but that was not really comfortable... and the night, I slept very well

today, in France, I'm the prood owner of a F150 4x4 ext cab, 4,6l gas /LPG and I tow always my 27' with my Harley Davidson in the bed (heritage softail, a big one ) and no problem in power so the comfort when riding is great . So with this rig, i drive with great care and extremly security distances.
The only one problem with this F150 is, when it 'is loaded like that, the rear of the truck is really down and the rear suspension too. To limit the height, I've mounted " timbren" suspensions and all is right .

I have a '97 F-150 (4.6 L, 3.73, 4X4 Super Cab) with a topper and a 2004 22' CCD. It's an adequate combination.

If I were to upgrade, an F-150 4X4 with the 5.4 L and 3.73 , with the 8100# Load Package and Tow Package would probably be my choice.

While I lust for the diesel, I think it is expensive overkill in my case.

Another consideration in favor of the F-150 right now is the engineered crash safety. The cab is protected by strengthened steel members and crumple zones that absorb kinetic energy during a crash. This would be invaluable if you're in a crash with a trailer. I understand (correct me if I'm wrong) that the F-250 and F-350 have not yet had their cabs redesigned for this, however, it's coming with the next full body style change.

2003 E-350 Chateau 7 Passenger van, V-10, 4.10 rear, 9.5 MPG towing, 14-15 MPG empty. The V-10 is a quiet, bulletproof engine easily capable of lasting 200K miles.

I've had 4 diesels but this van rocks! This van is more stable towing than any pickup I've owned.

Bruno, you are fortunate to have bi-fuel gas vehicles over there. I have added LPG fumigation to my Duramax diesel and love it. It is tough to find LP at a decent price around "here", but at 700 miles between LP fillups, I can plan my fuel purchases. I wish Flex-Fuel was an option here in Florida, but alas, we have no E85 stations at all down here.

OK - I can't be the only one wondering what "LPG fumigation" is! Give us a bit more information to get excited about Pick!

Go to www.ATSdiesel.com, click on the Ford vehicle then click on propane systems. An explanation of how you can gain +60 HP and better fuel economy when using propane with diesel is given. It is slightly similiar to nitrous systems which give more oxygen to fuel in gas vehicles but here the propane allows the diesel to burn better.

Get what you need to do the job, over kill only kills your pocketbook. If however you see yourself in a 34' a year from now you would want to take that into consideration.

I think he is talking about propane injection. Kind of like Nitrous Oxide for a gas engine.
We have a 3/4 ton van, and it does well towing our Overlander. It is easier to get a bigger trailer in the future, than to get a bigger trailer AND a bigger tow vehicle. If you are a firm shopper (won't give in to pressure), you could probably get an F250 for close to the same price as the MSRP for a comparable F150. And it will last longer. The only drawback is the stiffer suspension may beat up the trailer, but if you are going to carry all the stuff you said in the bed of the truck, the extra weight will help soften the ride.

i think norbert is towing with a e-350 7.3 psd and a 30something trailer.

i'm been meaning to post some pics of a dualie 350 van from my neighborhood....this would be a pretty good tow boat....

the vans still do not have enough leg/foot room imo, the cab area isn't as comfortable and they are a bit louder...the low loading height is great but it does take more effort to cool or heat the big box and i like the separateness the truck bed offers....still big vans are better for towing than suvs imo.

Artlink tows a 28' coach with a Ford E350 cube van, with a 7.3 PSD.

Tinsel Loaf, tows with a 7.3 PSD E350 too. He has rigged out with an exhaust brake and the airride hitch.
