Extended warranty/service plans

I'm getting ready to purchase a used Silverado 2500 diesel, and am a bit intimidated by the potential expense of a breakdown, so thinking of an extended warranty plan.
Do you have experience with such plans, and what third party company did you contract with?

Extended warranty/service plans

The only thing after market warrantee providers are good at is avoiding payouts. Dealers push them because of the great profit margin / commission.

Go get a deal on a 2017 Chevy or gmc with the LP5 duramax. Comes with 5 year 100k powertrain warrantee out of the gate. You can get 10k+ off list price since the 18’s are out....

Diesel repairs can be very expensive. The head gasket job on my diesel Suburban would have been $3,000-$4,000 if didn’t have a diesel mechanic in the family.

With that said, you get what you pay for. Extended warranties are actually insurance. The extended plan for my Suburban would have cost as much as the head gasket job, but I would’ve paid up front instead of waiting until it hit 300,000 miles.

Actually, you would have paid for your service plan then paid again for the repair. No after market warrantee will cover a vehicle with 300k miles
