The McKesh were fairly priced, connected to the doors of our 2001 expedition with ease, did not mar the paint, had the least amount of vibration and gave us the best rear view of any. I highly recomend them.
Our Expedition was a 2001 and nobody made an aftermarket extendable side view mirror (like on the excursion) for that year.
BTW, I would highly recommend extended mirrors when pulling a TT, for your own safety and for the safety of your fellow highway travellers.

Uugh. So I'm going to have to get different mirrors? I like my mirrors but... I suppose I will lose my rear view and then these will be too teeny. I just wish they weren't all plasticy.

Another vote for McKesh Mirrors here... you just can't beat them, they are easy to install and remove, don't hurt the paint finish, and you can actually see behind you! What a concept!

I ordered a set of McKesh Mirrors and tried to mount them on our GX470. The body cladding and window seals wouldn't allow proper mounting, so returned them.
In desperation, bought a set of clamp on tow mirrors, which restricted OEM mirror adjustment.
I ended up modifying clips for clamp-on mirrors and they work fine.
I wonder if I should try to modify a McKesh set. I can envision a modification for the bottom of the door attachment, but don't know about messing with the upper window seal/attachment point.
Any solutions?

Hello Aquabud,
I noticed that we are practically neighbors. We live just a couple miles away in Bloomfield.
Unless they sell an aftermarket mirror for your 2010 Expedition that functions just ike the mirrors on the Excursion, then cut to the chase and get McKesh.
Afterall, you have already spent big bucks on the best TT. Why not pair your new toy up with best mirrors available?
Good luck and enjoy your TT.
BTW, when do you expect to take delivery?

One thing I noticed when trying to mount the McKesh on my 4runner is that at first I thought they wouldn't fit at the bottom of the door. The "lip" really isn't, i.e. the door is too thick and anything that wraps around to the inside prevents closing. But then I noticed a 4"-5" section towards the front of the door where there's like a groove into which the brackets fit perfectly. It's as if toyota has made that groove for mounting the McKesh mirrors! Sweet!

McKesh, not magic for all vehicles.
Hi, I tried the Mckesh mirrors on my Lincoln and never could get them to fit correctly. I got them on and adjusted, but it was a fight because the belt moulding and window glass fit very tight against each other. With the mirror bracket stuck between the door glass and the belt moulding it was very tight and putting a lot of pressure against the door glass. With this set-up I would have to leave my windows closed. Running the window up and down with the bracket in place would eventually scratch or break the glass. I sold them and will just have to be happy with my CIPA slip ons.

Attn Aquabud
We use McKesh adjustable mirrors on our 2003 F 150 Super Crew pulling a 2009 28 ' Flying Cloud . We have tried several different setups and found the McKesh to be excellent.

There's a new mirror in town.
Hello fellow Airstreamers,
Just wanted to make you aware of a new mirror option for those not wanting to use a strap-on product. I just received a set of Milenco Aero 2 Towing Mirrors that I will be using on my Magnum Hemi AWD. I first saw these demonstrated on a British U Tube review. I thought that the mirrors looked very stable. They have a very well thought out mounting system. Tried them out yesterday at highway speeds---worked great. Take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think. They will be available through MakariosRV.com.
Safe travels,
Juergen

Milenco Mirrors
The mirrors should be available now, even though they are not on the MarkariosRV web site as of yet. Look at the Utube review----the reviewer is driving a Nissan Frontier towing a Euro Airstream. Pretty neat!
Good luck!

Wow, those look nice. It will be interesting to hear what others think as the reviews come in. Could you please post the link for the youtube spot?

I have an email into the RV place. It's not shown on their web site.
I found the video by searching on Youtube for Milenco Aero.

Jurgen,
Thanks for letting us know about USA source for these.
I just placed an order for a set. I hope they fit! I tried McKesh's which I couldn't properly mount on our GX470.
Am currently using a set of strap on mirrors. They do work, but clearance on GX470 mirror cover and mirror is so tight, I had to grind down mounting clips. As a result, they must be located in the exact location each time so that the power mirrors can operate.

Hi guys,
The mounting system that Milenco uses is great. Looks like it should work on almost any standard OEM mirror. All the parts have a quality feel to them and replacement hardware is also available. The only caution that was expressed to me, is that the larger "Grand" mirrors might offer enough wind resistance to fold back the OEM mirror. The Aero2 should have no such concern.
Nice alternative to the strap-ons though!

I am not certain whether your tow vehicle would offer the option that I utilized with my Oldsmobile that had OEM mirror/McKesh interference, but it may be a possibility. I flipped the upper mounting bracket such that it would secure under the hood of the car -- the lower edge clamped to the front fender just to the rear of the front bumper. The appearance took a little getting accustomed to, but it did work well for that tow vehicle.

McKesh mirrors aren't all that expensive and they are not plastic. While I am not a fan of the painted surfaces on the new McKesh mirrors, they are still metal and of a quality that should permit them to last a lifetime of towing. I currently have a chromed set of McKesh Mirrors that date to 1975 and a newer charcoal painted set that date to 1995. In both cases, I purchased the mirrors from an Airstreamer who was transitioning from trailer to motorhome and paid less than 50% of the new retail price for each of the gently used sets that I purchased at WBCCI International Rally Fleamarkets. A $20.00 set of new straps and pads resulted in mirrors that were as good as new.

All of these postings and the ones in the thread about getting ticketed for inadequate mirrors have inspired me to get serious about my rear-viewability.
My set of McKeshes will be here Monday in time for my trip to Nolin Lake S.P. in Kentucky next week.
I agree with all of you who have posted that seeing behind is important provided that the importance of eyes on the road ahead is given some priority as well. I am mostly looking forward to being able to see the wheels!
