Excursion with cummins. Anyone done it?

I spoke with a guy who replaced his gas v10 with a cummins and now gets above 20 mpg. Has anyone here done this?

Any diesel would get you to 20 - seems the Cummins engines have the most support though for these swaps....

The only real aftermarket diesel engine swap that has support is for the Cummins (for obvious reasons: 23-yrs of production in Dodge trucks with unparalleled reliability & economy, ease of service, and longest B50 life).

FordCummins is the best known site.

There are build threads on the Ford & Dodge enthusiast sites:

Detroit Diesel - DD15 Diesel Engine Reliability

Pasted from site: The B50 life - an engineering term that means the point at which half of the engines are still running and half require rebuild - of a Detroit Diesel engine is 1.2 million miles. That's the highest in the heavy-duty industry, and it means you should expect the same workhorse effort out of the each Detroit Diesel engine.

Thanks!

Gary

Might want to contact these guys:

Beans Diesel Cummins Conversions

Beans has been working with the Cummins and conversions for quite a while. I visited the shop several years ago for a Dyno day. They are in TN.

Good luck.

B50 is also referred to as MTBO (Mean Time Between Overhaul). Powerstroke & Duramax are 250k miles, Cummins is 350k.
