Excursion seats??

I have a 2000 Ford Excursion and after much trouble putting down the second row seats I now can'nt get them back up. As we are going full timing next month I figured we could use them either up or down. Now however they may be down forever. If any Excursion owners know the trick to these seats I would be in your debt. My gray Airstream binder is also trapped under those seats and I think it's getting a little scared.

If you lift up on the bottom horizontal black handle the seat back should then come up, then you can pull the seat bottom down and put the head rest on.

Ex Seating

This is what Ford has to say about it...

My 2005 2nd row captains seats sometimes need a bit of encouragement to operate properly...

Note what the manual has to say about storing cargo under the seats!

All of these diagrams look a lot like my burb. When I first got mine I had trouble getting the seats back up. Until I realize that I had the front seats pushed back to far onto them. I am 6'1" and need the leg room. Once I moved the front seats forward they came right up. Might help.

Almost always sunny here unless there is a hurricane bearing down on you. And then it's time to hook up the burb and roll. So far I've been very lucky.

Thank you all for your help. After another 15 or 20 minutes of jiggling the black handle both sides unhooked and came right up as the book shows. Sooo I oiled all the fittings I could find and let the small side down gently and it's locked down and won't come back up. I think there is one little notch you must hit and the seat will come back up. I did get me Airstream book however. I'll have to check with a Ford dealer.
