Dodge Charger R/T 1968 as tow vehicle.
Hi everyone.
I would like to tow my 21' Globetrotter with a Charger 440 of 1968, but am unable to find any information about her towing capacity.
The Gvw is 4500lb and empty weight 3400.
I'm also searching for a tow hitch for this car.
Could you help me with your advices?

The charger is probably unibody, Chrysler made most cars unibody. You will have to find a custom hitch installer. Other than that, the car will probably be fine.

You did not mention whether your '68 Charger was an automatic or stick shift. If it is the 3 speed Torqueflite Automatic transmission I would check that it also has a large transmission cooler. The 440 Charger even in the lower tune stage (Not the 440 sixpack) would have more than adequate torque and horsepower to tow your A/S. You would need heavy duty shocks or air shocks and an adequate hitch which because of the age of your vehicle will probably have to be custom fabricated.

go for it!
I towed a 2006 19 foot CCD with my 1968 Imperial Convertible (440 with 727 transmission) and we did just fine. I added the transmission cooler and a custom built hitch that attached to multiple points alone the unibody's "frame" rails. spend a little cash on the weight distributing hitch (big overhangs behind the rear wheels need the extra lift) and the transmission cooler. PM me and give you all the gory details about traveling cross country with a vintage tow vehicle.

Thank you already for your advices.
I forgot to say I had a 3 speed transmission, an aluminium radiator, separate trans cooler, new adjustable shocks at rear, new brakes, with disk in front, new master cyl, new bearings, control arms bushings, ball joints, tie rods, pitman and relay arms. Engine and trans mounts.
Everything is new and quality parts.
A drawing of the hitch receiver you suggest would help me. I was planning to go to an hitch installer and check if the was a possibility to use some van or light truck receiver as startpoint, and modify it.

I have re-surfaced in Dallas. I am well and happy my Imperial survived the 2007 trip. When I returned, I opted for an f-150 with a sunroof and cold AC. =) Now I'm waiting for my 2010 28 foot international to come off the asembly line. WOO HOO.
How goes?
