Do newer Lincoln Navigators have heavy tow package?
Does anyone know if lincoln added heavy tow package to ALL navigators? and if so when?
in doing research what I find seems to suggest that the navigator can tow about 6200# without the heavy tow package and 8600 (4WD) with the package. I stopped by the dealer to see how to tell which had the package and which did not (as I'd like to get a 2015). they told me that all 2016's come with the heavy tow standard. hmm.
then I asked about 2015 and they said all of those too? hmm. they were very uncertain about all of this, so I'm going out the the net to see if anyone has info
I know all the Ford Expediton EL Limiteds have the HD tow package (2015) I'm pretty sure the Navigators do too, since they're pretty much the same thing. I won't bet my life, but I'm relatively sure. I bought a 2015 Expedition EL XLT with a HD tow package. It's 4 x 4 and has a towing capacity of 9100 lbs. I love it!
it says for the long one, 8300 2x4 and 8600 4x4. also when you look at rear gear, it says the short navigator comes with a 3:73 and says the 4:10 is available as an option and provides enhanced towing ability. the astrix and the choice of ring gear make me thing in 2015 atleast, the "heavy tow rating" may need specific options.
They list gross veh weight on the door and max axle weight but not tow weight or GCVW.
Does anyone know if Lincoln or ford put GCVW anywhere on their trucks? That would b helpful as the regular has a GCVW of 12300 and the heavy tow equipped is 15100#.
Seems like the heavy tow package also comes with a factory trailer brake controller. So I'm trying to figure out where that would be located. That would also be a sign it was properly equipped.
They can print out the original window sticker for a used unit. It should tell you what you need to know. Of course you would need to have the VIN for a specific unit. Ask the service department at a dealer to print it for you.

Not sure about the Navagator but the brake controller in my 2013 Expedition was at the bottom of the center radio/climate/navigation panel. I just picked up my new 2016 and it is much more conveniently located just to the right of the speedometer panel. Much more convenient to view and control.
