Well Lori and Will, you guys have a neat, and fairly unique, set up. I'm sure you get a lot of attention on the road and in CG's. Great fun.

Every time that I see your rig, I think about my friends who towed with a 1960 Lark VIII Regal Convertible -- they always liked to remark that they towed a Lark with a Lark -- they had a Lark travel trailer similar to the one shown below.

I keep thinking that I need to finish restoring my Jonquil Yellow and Black 1960 Lark Convertible with the Sweepstakes 289 V8 to tow my Minuet. As can be seen in the photo below, my Lark is a few years away from being ready for the road again.

The Lark does have a full frame, and its probably the sturdiest frame of any of the studies of that era, so, Yeah, it'll surely tow that little trailer easily. The studie v8 is a torque monster so you'll have plenty of power too. The borg warner automatic is a brute too.

I always had a weak spot for those Larks. I think they are handsome cars.

Neat car Kevin. It will look great with an Airstream tucked in behind it. From time to time we have seen a white convert (black top) that is hot rodded somewhat blasting along I-5 in the Seattle, WA area. Other than seeing that it has mag wheels and sounds great, and it is being driven well above the speed limit, I can't tell you any more about it. It sure does look neat (cute?) and I've often thought it would make a great little driver.

Classic tow cars

One of the things that I like about my '60 Lark is how sturdily it is built. In addition, when I purchased it (gulp) 30 years ago, I was able to buy NOS parts to fix most everything including:
  • Front grille and surround moldings
  • Front bumper
  • Front turn signal units
  • All beltline trim
  • All new rocker panels
  • New rear valance pan panel
  • All new chrome dash trim
  • All new tail light assemblies
  • All new backup light assemplies
  • All new side trim (Lark, VIII, TT, etc.)
  • New manual crank remote control radio antenna
  • New correct intake manifold
  • New Studebaker exhaust pipe tips (stainless steel)
  • Replated rear bumper and guards
  • New front seat headrests
In the late 1970s, it seemed like Newman and Altman had nearly everything to build a new 1960 Lark.

Kevin

P.S.: The Lark that my friends had was almost identical to mine only theirs was white with 3-speed manual with overdrive and a power-pack Sweepstakes 259 V8.

My Dad worked at Studie when I was little so we had Studies exclusively. I remember a fifty one two door with v eight and stick overdrive, a fifty three lowey coupe hardtop, a fifty seven four door, a fifty nine wagon, six with od, and after that the factory was closed and dad switched to chrysler products until the POS dart which would not run right even from the factory. Then dad went to Volvos.

The fifty three lowey coupe is still one of my all time favorite designs.

Of course living near south bend a lot of folks worked at and drove studies.

Still looking for a vintage airstream to tow behind her but i did pick up a 1950 Vakashunette to go with her for now. We took it to the springstream rally in march here in georgia. My wife was glad it was only for the weekend cause she likes the comfort of the airstream much better.

That international rig is just too cool!

I enjoyed all of them though. Its nice to see something out of the ordinary pulling rigs.

Vintage with some upgrades

It was sad to see my Caravel leave with the great new owners. But, what was pulling it was a real kicker. 1956 Ford COE, crew cab hauler on a new Powerstroke running gear. Looked great heading out West along the Route 66 path.
