No. The Equinox has a 3500lb tow rating, and the 16' Bambi weighs 3500lbs loaded. From the 3500 you deduct passengers, cargo and fuel and you wind up with less than 3500lbs tow capacity. You are at or most likely beyond 100% of the tow rating of the 16' Bambi.

Thanks for the reply. equinox ( i love it but it is a wanabee after owning a suburban) has a 3500 lb rating , from what i can ascertain the used bambi i am interested in is 2786 . i've done all my stream'n cross country and mountains. i want it for short hops, intra -state. i realize everything counts so i plan to drive it empty . i read somewhere , most likely here, that all is taken into consideration meaning what's in the tow vehicle plus what you're towing. I'm just looking for someone who has used the equinox as a tow vehicle. I've already towed a 20 ft glass boat with a 165 merc but don't know how much they weigh. Of course, I only went 40-50 mph on flat roads.
thanks

no on the equinox. it's not a tow vehicle. i'd recommend using the search button and spend some time reading the endless threads on the subject. you'll quickly find the answer for yourself.

A Trailblazer would be a more capable tow vehicle. The Equinox is basically a Malibu with different sheet metal. If you don't want to trade trucks, Airstream now makes a relatively lightweight 17' and 22' coach, you may want to check them out.

I put equinox in the search box and got no answers and that's why I posted the question. I appreciate the responses and definitely take them to heart. My GM card is fast reaching it's limit for this year so off to the gm dealers for a new tow vehicle. At least I got a break from that 42 gal tank for the last 3 yrs. None the less, I sure passed a lot of steaming radiators in the mountains when I had the suburban.
thanks

You are welcome. Please let us know what you wind up with, both as tow vehicle and trailer.

I too thought of suggesting this, but all of these are also above what the Eq can tow. If there is anyone out there towing with one, I think that's what is being asked at this point. If no takers, or few takers, I think you'll have your answer.

I hit a button and my email flew somewhere. I am passing info on as to the equinox and towing. I called the dealer where I purchased the boat and it's close to 3500 lbs. I'm not justifying the equinox because I know hauling a travel trailer constantly does not make the equinox ok. For 2 years we towed a 16ft aluminum trailer with a club car. 1200 mi ea way to Florida. Believe me the car was loaded also and we aren't feather weights. The car has served us well. The suburban lasted 200,000 mi and this is at 60,000 and I know I'll never get what I got out of the suburban.
thanks

We bought a Trailblazer this morning. Hopefully, we won't lose out on the Bambi.
