What is the point of this post? I don't need an engineer (or you) to explain this to me. If you read beyond your myopic view you might have noticed that nobody debated the simple physics. However, you also conveniently failed to continue reading and missed the point....that there are many more variables that go into stability outside of mass.

Yes, there is a good article in the Summer AS Magazine that actually prefers a tested Chev. SUV over the Chev. Tahoe. The Tahoe was the one with the heavier vehicle weight and more HP. I noticed that one of the deciding factors was the lower aspect of the towing vehicle.

I'm not big on dealing with all the science, but was very assured (and, relieved) by reading this article. Of course, we are only towing a FC-19 with our Highlander. Much bigger (contrary to the article, actually) and I'd be looking at more power. That is not based totally on science or recommendation, just intuition. We Germans seem to be able to do that (joke).

Check the Summer 2014 AS magazine for comparison between two Chevrolet SUVs. The lighter vehicle won ... Surprised me! Dave

Highlander towing a Bambi 16

Ive been towing my 2013 Bambi Sport 16 for 2 years now with my 2013 Toyota Highlander using an Equalizer set up. I have had zero issues towing and I get about 14 to 15 miles per gallon. Milage varies based on how many climbs I have. I tow from Washington DC city traffic to Shenandoah National park with ease. I bought an electric brake controller and the Toyota dealership installed it for me. I love this combination. I've been in stop and go traffic, country roads, highway, and mountain roads, all with out concern.

The Highlander is a very nice vehicle, but expensive. I wish we could afford one. Since we could not afford a Highlander, Sequoia, Sienna, or 4-runner we got an Avalon. The Avalon is a beautiful car, but it is still a car- sits low- difficult egress- maybe next time we can get a Sienna van. Next time the house and camper will be paid for.
