so this just went by on the news.... some nare do wells haul up an innocent civilian and car jack him - except - wait for it - they couldn't drive off with the suv because... it was a manual and no one in the gang of desperados could drive a stick... there you have it! manuals for ever!

I have driven each of the three big diesels with automatic transmissions. They are all nice to drive, lots of control - no question about it. For me it would depend how I used the vehicle. If it were a daily driver with the potential of a lot of stop/go I would opt for the automatic. If this vehicle were not used everyday - I would opt for the manual tranny.
