Question Andy Thomson @ Can-Am

Is this a reasonable request ? (Email sent to Can-Am)

I have already purchased an Airstream Travel Trailer and am shopping for a tow vehicle.
I was wondering if it is possible to have a consultation with Andy to help with a couple of questions I am unsure of. As I will not really be a customer of CanAm products, I am willing to pay for such a conversation. Is this possible ? Thank you for your consideration.

I am a CanAm customer and have found them extremely accommodating. I am sure if you're prepared to pay for the consultation they'd work with you.

We have purchased custom hitch components from Can Am a couple of time since purchasing our trailer (elsewhere) - we found Andy to be more than helpful and were grateful for his expertise - but it can be tough to get hold of him.

Try phoning directly - Can Am is a busy place - and its fairly obvious that the direct demands on Andy's personal towing knowledge top the list.

Yes, if I want to get something done at CanAm, I'll call. They are incredibly busy this time of year.

Thumbs up Help from Mr. T

That is great and not surprised. It has always amazed me how Mr. T finds the time to do all that he does. I did notice he was signed on the forum here today about 6AM so getting an early start in the day is one of his attributes.

Andy must be a kind hearted person. People call him for advice on trailers towing and tow vehicles. Take his free advice then buy from the dealer with the best price.

And the way he gets treated by some on this forum it's a wonder he's as generous here as he is! He's a good guy in my books.

He gave me a LOT of interesting advice on TVs by email. Very generous with his time, talent and knowledge. I think he is a kind of treasure regarding Airstream towing. Thumbs up!

We bought neither trailer nor hitch from Can Am but they were happy to reinforce our factory receiver hitch and tweak our 3P for us. Booked well in advance, of course!

When he found out we hadn't had breakfast, Andy gave us recommendation and loaned us a Cadillac!

I would do business with them anytime.

We just got back to Florida from our trip north and stop at Can Am. They reinforced the factory hitch on our ML350 and did a few other things. We did purchase the recommended hitch and brake controller and Andy was very helpful in making sure I knew how to set the trailer/hitch up correctly. That project is this coming weekend. All I can say is Andy and his staff are some of the nicest and most professional people that I have ever delt with. If we ever upgrade, there is no doubt everything will be bought and install at Can Am.
Thank you Andy!
Tom

Send a message via AIM to bredlo
We spent the day there several years ago, heading over from Chicago to have a hitch (and reinforcements) installed on our Highlander Hybrid.

"What, you can't get a hitch in the States?" the border guard asked half-jokingly after we stated our purpose for the trip.

"Not like they do at Can-Am," I smiled. We enjoyed thousands of happy miles with that setup.

CanAm, Andy and Kirk Thomson & Staff; NONE Better

In June of 2001 I purchased my 2002 ASCL 31', onboard Onan Microquite 4000 and Hensley from CanAm. This was after I had many telecons over a several month period with Andy (I live in Houston, Texas) discussing the potential of using my 2001 BMW X5 4.4i as the tow vehicle. Basis those telecons I ordered my ASCL from Andy.

My family traveled from Houston, Texas to London, Ontario and spent one week at CanAm on site in a new 31' Airstream (not mine) at no expense while my assembly was being completed. During that week I got $10,000 worth of knowledge picking Andy's brain and was allowed to walk around his shop and observe his staff building other assemblies.

I spent 28 years with Texaco Lubricants in sales and marketing, so I know how a company SHOULD treat the Customer (always capitalize that "C"), so I'm in a position to pass judgment on CanAm ............ it doesn't get better than CanAm!
