An 87 Wagoneer for a 65 Overlander????

Thinking about purchasing an 87 Wagoneer with a 360 V8 for towing my 65 26 foot Overlander, with a dry weight of about 4230 lbs. and wet weight around 5500 lbs. It has a Class 3 hitch.
Can't seem to find out what the gear ratio is on this vehicle--it's not in the owner's manual and doesn't seem to be labeled anywhere on the vehicle. How can I find this out? I called a dealer and they weren't very helpful. Also, is a Class 3 hitch appropriate for this type of load?
I'm supposed to meet with the seller this afternoon--so, any info would be really helpful!

Kathy

Hello kdenault,

Look for a small metal tag attached to the rear differential cover ,it will be small about 1 1/4 long or less ,if it is there it will show ,3:73 or ? which is the ratio ,also there may be a small tag saying limited slip possibly. The axles are
DANA corp. units .The wagoneer is plenty tough to pull that airstream .The
mileage isn't great but so what its the heavy duty vehical you need .Expect
about 10 mpg .
