Alternator

The alternator is going out on my new TV 1994 C2500 Suburban.

I have a decision to make, to I go with a stock 105 amp unit or upgrade to the 140 amp alternator? With two batteries on the truck and than adding a third while towing, do I need the extra 35 amps?????

Thanks in advance.....

The performance on the overwound units isn't that great.

You might, on the other hand, consider a CS-144 upgrade. It's a larger frame alternator that produces more output, especially at idle. You might need a different belt and there is a wiring adapter you use because the connector is a little different.

No.

Unless you are doing a lot of stop and start, less than 30 miles per start, you do not have enough load to warrant the large alternator.
