Yes; I was just correcting the data regarding your post :-) My 3.5EB called for 87 (our lowest locally) if not towing and 93 (probably 91, but we have 87, 89 and 93) if towing or stressing the engine. Not sure about the 6.2 gasser in the F250 (I did look it up but forget).

I've towed through the Rocky Mountains at > 10,000' when running 85 octane. No sign of problems.

All modern fuel injected engines have knock sensors which regard timing to prevent engine damage. Does not mean engine was performing correctly.

Before I went to a diesel my GMC 6.2 required 91 octane all the time.

The GMC 6.2 has slightly higher compression than the Ford 6.2, which will run fine on regular.

I used to get non-ethanol gas for towing with my Ford 6.2. Made a difference in power.

Now THAT stuff (non ethanol) is expensive. Well over $3.00 here, where diesel is $2.85 and regular is $2.38. I use non ethanol gas for my yard tools but I’m glad I don’t need it for towing.

It is, but my truck has always been exclusively for towing so the fuel cost is really not significant. I also use that fuel in both Harleys.

The 85 octane I was getting was the cheapest thing on the pump other than the really weird ethanol stuff. ( = there was a separate hose and three other selections for the ethanol fuels) Ford is happy with 85 octane in the manual. There was no noticeable reduction in power out of the engine. I could zoom up inclines all I wanted to.

Again - it is unclear to me that they actually haul eight "flavors" of fuel out to all these locations ( 2 diesel, three "gas", three "ethanol" ). Either they have trucks that haul many at a time or they run a *lot* of trucks. If they are blending at the pump, then that's one fancy pump .....

This is a great thread took a couple of turns along the way and I appreciate everyone's input. Just thought I would update everyone with how things turned out. We bought a 2019 2500 Chevy Highcountry Diesel and a 2019 30RBQ International. Here are a couple pictures of our trip home from NJ to NC

Nice! Have fun! IMHO they do a good job setting up the trailer/hitch at Colonial (where we bought ours).
