250 vs 350 or 2500 vs 3500

I got a F350. I also got factory fifth wheel prep, slide in camper certification, and snow plow prep. There's not much chance I will out grow it.

When I shopped and spec'd out my 2015 Ram/Cummins, it was less than $500 to upgrade from the 2500 to the 3500 SRW, but it added 2,000 lbs more payload. Easy decision. Just towed my 27FB Classic with a 2500 gasser, and it rode the same as my 3500 diesel. I run a consistent 17,500 GCVW per CATs, and am still at least 1,000 lbs below gross axle weights, per axle. I like that margin of safety...

You could wake up regretting your choice of a 250.....
You absolutely would wake up regretting your choice of a 150, regardless of the "max tow", eco-boost, 13,500 lb." yadda, yadda, yadda......

Just because you can, does not mean you should !

On some models, the major difference between a 3500 and 2500 is the tyres.
A 3500 is intended for heavy construction towing some up to 14,000#, so riders comfort does not matter. I have seen 100psi tyres on 3500 series, while the 2500 next to it has 60 psi tyres. An those rock hard tyres are tough on your back. Suggest you test ride a few used pickups to see how each handles after they get to be a few years old

on the ones we looked at tires were the same, difference was rear springs and axle... changing out the tires anyway before deliver to all terrain ones as we go off road with some frequency and mud/snow/rock capabilities are important to me.

also reading the ford forum seems a fair number of folks air down the tires to different degrees when not loaded. this improves comfort a bunch..

Our F-350 rides much more smoothly with weight on the hitch, but isn't that bad without it. It's a truck, after all.
