I did order a 2017 f150 about 2 weeks ago.
First dealer told me he could not order until September and would not see it until December. He also wants thousands down and non refundable!
I went to another local dealer and ordered the 2017 f150. $1000. down and refundable. He told me 8 weeks. We will see.
The week after the order , Ford invoiced the dealer on my order.
It was order as a retail sale which means that it gets built before stock orders.

Thanks. Yes the 10 speed transmission on the 2017 is differently an item that is making the wait a bit easier to live with.
Yes the tailgate remote would be a great feature - particularly as the truck is my daily drive and dislike having to search for my keys to drop the tailgate when my arms are full. I had hoped it would be available as a single option in 2017 as I believe GM/Chev has.
One thing that I am still not clear on and in asking the sales staff I get pretty wishy washy answers - is what axle rating is best for towing? Have read through most of this thread and still not totally clear on what axle does what for me & why I would want one over the other.
What I do know is the Max tow Packages comes with a 3.55 axle. There is also a 3.31 and 3.73 and more? I am purchasing a Super Cab with 3.5 EB and pulling a trailer of about 6000lbs, if that makes a difference.
My question is what are the big differences I will actually notice between the 3.55 axle and the others offered while towing & not towing. In not overly technical terms for those of us who are not really "car guy" types is one considered generally to be better for towing than the other and why?
Perhaps I missed a post that laid out the pros and cons of various axles. So sorry in advance if its been well covered.

According to the order guide, the Power Tailgate Lock option is available on XL trucks and standard on XLT and above. The full remote release (where the tailgate opens with a button on the remote, not just unlocks) is standard on Lariat 501A (mid-level Lariat trim) and above.

THANK you. You should go to work for our local dealer
That is what I needed to know but so far dealer has not confirmed one way or the other. Ordering an XLT so that should cover it!

As long as what you want to be able to unlock the tailgate from the remote but still have to pull the tailgate's handle to open it, the XLT has you covered.
Alas, I'll still have to go "Lariat Luxury" (502A) or higher to get the LED headlights, so no LED headlights with HD Payload. Decisions, decisions... vacillating over that sort of thing will help me wait another year to buy.

There are several threads on the rear-end topic, by better experts than I. That being said, I will share that I am totally happy with the 3.55 with the 6 speed, 2012 Platinum 3.5L EB and I have been towing a 25' AS since it was new. Mileage for me has been 10-12 MPG when towing, and 15-22 when not towing, again, depending on speed. If I stay below 65, I get the higher numbers. The 10 speed is supposed to autolock to just 8 speeds when towing; My feeling is the 3.55 is fine all around, but with the torque and 10 speed, perhaps the 3.31 becomes interesting for some. I am happy with 3.55 and think it will be the best all around choice with the 3.5EB and 10 speed for towing or daily driver.

on the 2017 F-150 if you opt for Max tow you will get the 3.55 axle or you can go with the Tow Pack and you will get the 3.31 .... I have owned all axles paired with the ecoboost... This is how I feel... 3.73 ... OVERKILL. The 3.31 works great for 95% of us. If your live in the mountains or want to spend a lot of time climbing the highest peaks in north America get the 3.55 and you will go up with the cruise set at 65mph and pass everyone up with ease.

Gypsydad.... the pricing for Louisiana was released about 3 weeks ago when I place mine on order, I have my price sheet for my order. I am a Ford Stockholder so I purchase at "X" plan pricing. "X" plan is right at Dealer Cost give or take a few bucks. The Dealer still gets Advertising money and dealer holdback monies.

The 2017 F250 is so stout that it does not require a weight distribution hitch as it can handle anything Airstream has. Also it comes with a 3" receiver with reducers.

New to AirForums and I'm looking at this question. I've been towing a 1993 Excella 25 with a 2012 F150 Ecoboost 3.5 SuperCrew FX4 comfortably though payload limited. Longest trip was Lyons, Colorado to Las Cruces, New Mexico and crossing Raton Pass. After upgrading to a 2008 Classic 30 I would like a bit more truck, so I'll probably be shopping for an F250 soon.

I drove the new 17' F250 diesel couple days ago. It sure had power, and was very pricy ($8K+ more for diesel?), but if I had a 30' AS, I would consider the F250 perhaps. Rode pretty stiff, still, compared to F150. I want to stay gas...they did not have a new F250 gas on the lot so could not get feel for difference. I am anxious to see reviews for the new EB F150.

I believe the Extra Load F-150 comes with a 3/4 ton axle. So your ride will be almost as stiff as the F- 250.
If you want to stay with a well performing Ecoboost and increased payload this is the combo to consider for sure.
I did however, to get max load option, it only comes with the 8' box so there is't a crew cab option and I could't get that into my garage lengthwise.
Plus my wife would never give up the crew cab. Need it for the dogs.
So we went with the 2017 F-250 Diesel and Crew cab. Payload 3,130 tow 17,600 for a stock truck, we are puling a 2013 30' Airstream.

The HD Payload option on the current-generation F150 no longer comes with the heavier 7-lug rear axle. The frame is specific to the HD-payload trucks, and only comes in the longest wheelbase and bed for the respective cab. So, the SuperCrew comes with a 6.5' bed, the SuperCab gets the 8' box.
