on the 2017 F-150 if you opt for Max tow you will get the 3.55 axle or you can go with the Tow Pack and you will get the 3.31 .... I have owned all axles paired with the ecoboost... This is how I feel... 3.73 ... OVERKILL. The 3.31 works great for 95% of us. If your live in the mountains or want to spend a lot of time climbing the highest peaks in north America get the 3.55 and you will go up with the cruise set at 65mph and pass everyone up with ease.

2017 F150 update including projected pricing...

Saw this update...looks like starting to build this month with delivery in Q4 as some dealers have told me...if someone has more current/ "accurate" information, please share.

Gypsydad.... the pricing for Louisiana was released about 3 weeks ago when I place mine on order, I have my price sheet for my order. I am a Ford Stockholder so I purchase at "X" plan pricing. "X" plan is right at Dealer Cost give or take a few bucks. The Dealer still gets Advertising money and dealer holdback monies.

The 2017 F250 is so stout that it does not require a weight distribution hitch as it can handle anything Airstream has. Also it comes with a 3" receiver with reducers.

New to AirForums and I'm looking at this question. I've been towing a 1993 Excella 25 with a 2012 F150 Ecoboost 3.5 SuperCrew FX4 comfortably though payload limited. Longest trip was Lyons, Colorado to Las Cruces, New Mexico and crossing Raton Pass. After upgrading to a 2008 Classic 30 I would like a bit more truck, so I'll probably be shopping for an F250 soon.

I drove the new 17' F250 diesel couple days ago. It sure had power, and was very pricy ($8K+ more for diesel?), but if I had a 30' AS, I would consider the F250 perhaps. Rode pretty stiff, still, compared to F150. I want to stay gas...they did not have a new F250 gas on the lot so could not get feel for difference. I am anxious to see reviews for the new EB F150.

Congratulations! I know you haven't seen the sticker, but any idea on what the payload will be?

Payload should be between 2800 - 3000#

I believe the Extra Load F-150 comes with a 3/4 ton axle. So your ride will be almost as stiff as the F- 250.
If you want to stay with a well performing Ecoboost and increased payload this is the combo to consider for sure.
I did however, to get max load option, it only comes with the 8' box so there is't a crew cab option and I could't get that into my garage lengthwise.
Plus my wife would never give up the crew cab. Need it for the dogs.
So we went with the 2017 F-250 Diesel and Crew cab. Payload 3,130 tow 17,600 for a stock truck, we are puling a 2013 30' Airstream.

The HD Payload option on the current-generation F150 no longer comes with the heavier 7-lug rear axle. The frame is specific to the HD-payload trucks, and only comes in the longest wheelbase and bed for the respective cab. So, the SuperCrew comes with a 6.5' bed, the SuperCab gets the 8' box.
