The Titan is virtually unchanged from 2004-2014. What does the 2015 look like?

The second generation is still going as far as I'm concerned. Yes, they changed the interior and front cap and bed, but the chassis is the same- engine, transmission, and rear end are the same. Which year did they switch from the 4.7 to the 4.6?
That's inaccurate. In the 1500 series the chassis were all new in each of the generation changes. 400, 800, 900, and K2x all refer to a platform (frame and running gear) and all are different. Powertrain changes occur at differing points in the platform run, based on competitive and EPA demands. And some, usually minor, sheet metal and minor interior re-freshes occur during the platform run.

The HDs got off cycle in 2011 with a platform change amid 900 series sheet metal/interior/cab run. Then in 2015, the K2x body and interior was placed on the 2011 frame. The Early, or late platform HD change (depending on your perspective) was due to a competitor upping the GVW game and waiting an additional 4 years was not prudent.

Once again, you're gonna make me become a supporting member so I can post pictures. I know as sure as I'm standing here that the 1500 was the same body style from 1999-2007 Classic with a headlight change beginning in 2003 and I know as sure as the nose on my face they were the same from 2007-2013.
I can also say that from 1987-1999 Classic were basically the same and 1973-1986 were the same and 1967-1972 were the same and so on and so on and scooby dooby doo-

Maybe some components change- steering, suspension, etc., but the body style was constant.
Maybe the engines changed some. For example, the basic 350 motor was the same through all the years, but along came electronic ignition and the computer age and fuel injection and so on and so forth- all due to government cafe standards-

Maybe we're not communicating well....yes the 800 platform was 1999 - 2007 (classic). Mid 2007 started the 900...through 2013. And K2x started in 2014. All those platforms are different. There were minor refreshes during each. What stays the same is the chassis and the Cab structure and bed structure. Rarely does the outer skin sheet metal change on the bed, roof or doors during a platform run. Front fenders, hoods, grills, bumpers and sometimes tailgate skin are easy and relatively inexpensive to change.

I thought you were saying the platforms were physically the same between 800 and 900, etc.

Somebody pleeze 'splain to me why I would need a big empty pick up bed to haul my Bambi. I found a guy that will pop an inline Cummins six into my Land Cruiser for half the cost of a new pick up.

You don't, unless you need to haul a lot of gear.....

Put two Vespas, a generater, ice chest and two bicycles in your Land Cruiser. The cummins would be great in there, the Cruiser, for a tow vehicle with character!

What we have here is failure to communicate-
Sounds to me like you're saying the same deadgum thing I'm sayin'!

Naw, i was not saying the platform was the same- if anything I am saying the platform changed in '99, '07, and '14 model years-
Some Datsun/Nissan platforms did not change with the sheet metal- the 3 generations before the Frontier were basically the same- even with different sheet metal and interior the outside mirrors and glass and undercarriage were the same- like from the '97 Hardbody style to the '98 Frontier-
Toyota was probably about the same-
The so-called new Tundra is just styling. The platform is the same.

Not sure what the argument is for this new Titan. The new F-150 just about matches it in load and towing capacity if you option it correctly. The 3.5 ecoboost has a diesel-like torque curve (and 420 lb.-ft. at that) and with the price spread between gasoline and diesel will probably still have lower fuel cost per mile than the Titan-Cummins despite better diesel fuel economy. And diesels are certainly more expensive to maintain than gasoline engines.

Do modern diesels have fuel/water separators? I remember years ago working in a car dealership they were installing a lot of 3rd party water separators in Mercedes diesel cars.
