I don't think you read it correctly - we had plenty of issues with that Ford, including the usual problem of it blowing out coolant under load, which is repairable but at great cost. I don't miss it one bit. A friend in the WBCCI has one, too, and I told him our truck would get ideas on how to break down next from his.

To My Diesel Compatriots:

It is not my intent to emasculate HOWEVER...
Just came across this 5 Star Rating for the Ford F-250 Diesel from Car & Driver magazine especially touting its Power Stroke producing 440 horsepower and 860 lb-ft of hairy-chested torque... It goes on to say... "Honestly, the Ford delivers more muscle than almost any user will ever need, but HD-truck output figures, like rust, never sleep. A button to the right of the steering wheel activates the exhaust brake to help maintain speed on downhill sections"
Ford F-250 Super Duty Reviews - Ford F-250 Super Duty Price, Photos, and Specs - Car and Driver
Just got back from a 450 mile trip and here's the mpg we were averaging:

Went from a long line of Ford trucks to a single Ram CTD ... and now a Duramax ... need I say more. Just one person's (well, make that two with DW) opinion. YMMV

HI, I have to admit that this cluster looks a lot like the one in my F-150, but I don't have a turbo boost gauge and mine doesn't have a red line of 4,000 RPM. Actually my F-150 doesn't have a red line marking at all. This smells like a diesel to me!

Are the mileage gauges that accurate. What is the mpg when odometer mileage is divided bt gallons pumped?

A learned friend of mine once told me, "men will lie about sex and fuel mileage".

Perhaps Steve but I'm a woman touting this mileage. My husband couldn't believe it either but alas there it was...
Could there be something to the way a woman drives a diesel? We may have to factor that into the mileage mix!

I'll post a daytime picture of the dashboard to assure you it is on our 2015 F-250 Power Stroke Super Duty Diesel. BTW we get a ghastly (gas-tly ) 11-13 mpg around town.

You may be on to something, 911Patriot - when my wife drives either the car or the diesel truck, the mileage improves! She has a gift!

My point, and I guess I should have spelled it out, is the computer is almost never correct, and I can show you a picture very easily of my instrument panel showing in excess of 30 mpg just by resetting it and taking a snap shot of the highest mileage it will compute. However, it won't do that over an entire tank of fuel, no matter how you drive it, and I seriously doubt yours will either.

I believe you. I got 18mpg on a trip (solo, no trailer) with our 6.0L PSD. It doesn't surprise me at all that a newer one would be even better.

My experience with the computer calculated mpg estimates are that they are about 8% high compared to miles driven divided by gallons poured into the tank. Oddly enough this holds true for different manufacturers, both domestic and foreign.

An isolated incident is not worth much, but an average MPG over thousands of miles is the only way to truly compare.
Kelvin,
Looking up averages on Fuelly is probably the best average to seek.
