2014 Ram 2500

Just took delivery of my new Ram 2500 Laramie CC 4x4 w/ 6.7 Cummins. Ordered this on 31 July. Have done some customizing, including electric tonneau (Bedlocker), bed step, mud flaps, etc. Have plugged in the 7 way just to check lights/brakes. All seems fine, but won't tow until I get at least 500 mi on the ODO (that's what the book says). Great interior....with seats up, have a flat floor for the two basset girls, and all that room in the bed for generators, etc. Ramboxes for storing hitch gear, chocks, etc. With the turbo, exhaust brake and 840 pounds of torque, I'll be good for the mountains for sure!

I like the Ram boxes on the side of the bed, wish we had them. And the silver color, and . . . really nice truck.

Great looking truck. You will enjoy all that torque. Makes mountain driving so much more enjoyable.

Looks nice. The 14's have the rear coil suspension instead of leaf springs, plus the new front suspension, which has to be better for the Airstream. When I bought my 13 last month, I wasn't aware of the change, and might have waited. I did get a better deal, almost $11k discount off MSRP, and so far I love the rig. Over the first 2500 miles, I have averaged just under 18mpg, with as much as 20mpg on the highway, all unloaded of course. Very curious how my 2014 28 FC will impact mileage, and it just arrived today!

That silver is a great color, enjoy the new truck. Here is a quick mod to protect your radiator from critters.

Barry,

Great looking truck. The side boxes should be a plus too. Have fun.

Lara Me....thanks for the great idea to protect the radiator. I'm anxious to hookup and tow, but gotta get the 500 miles first. Drove it RT to Charlotte and got 23.2 MPG on that big diesel. Kind of surprised, as usually an engine is tighter when new and uses more fuel. Obviously, don't expect this once SilverLeaf is hitched. Sean at ProPride is sending me a longer "drop" for my hitch, as the receiver is 22" from the ground. Oh, and the Ramboxes are awesome...great place for the lego blocks, chocks and hitch up tools. Will publish a "road after action review" once I've taken my first trip. Already hooked it up to the 7 pin and checked lights, turn signals and it sees the brakes, so that's a good sign!

Barry,

Hopefully if your mileage report is from the computer display the MPG is a more accurate indicator than on my overhead display on my '05 Dodge Ram. It over estimates mine by 2-3+ MPG or so, so for my real world driving not towing mileage, its just short of 20 MPG hand calculated.

And if this is your 1st compression ignition engine, might want to get some fuel island gloves. #2 fuel is a bit stinky and yucky.

Thanks! Think the silver/silver looks cool. Agree about the gloves. I has a turbo diesel awhile back, albeit pretty pedestrian compared with the Cummins. Once you have an "Oiler" you quickly learn that the fuel smell and its tactile characteristics are not soon forgotten.

Nice truck!
Hopefully the seats in your new truck have the air blowers. I recently drove a 2012 Dodge Ram in early September with the seat blowers and couldn't believe the difference in comfort. It was 90 degrees out that day and my bottom side actually got cold!
You need to make up an excuse to get some miles on that truck and get towing.
