2014 Grand Cherokee Diesel review

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee drive review - Autoweek

Interesting read....diesel offers 200# more towing capacity than the hemi and an additional 30 foot pounds of torque. Even though the costs is considerably higher, I suspect dealers will put a premium on this car.

I thought long and hard about waiting for the diesel and opted for the hemi instead. Not sure that Jeep dealers in the US will be up to speed on this engine anytime soon.

Traded emails with Ca-Am and will be seeking their advice on beefing up the hitch to tow my Safari 25' that weighs 6280#.

Thanks for posting the review. I think you made the correct decision. Did you get a 2013 model with the 8 speed tranny? Let us hear about it.

I am sure the new diesel will have some teething problems. I will let somebody else, that has to have the very latest offering, deal with those. I would look for a 2 year old MB SUV with the 3.5L diesel before I would go after the 2014 Jeep diesel.

For then extra cost of the motor, the extra cost for the fuel ... I am not sure the diesel makes a who lot of sense today ... What the future may hold is another story. I know many retired truckers (lifetime diesel drivers) that opt for gas tow vehicles for thei Airstreams ... So what do they know that I am only guessing at?

I looked at a diesel JGC a couple of years ago but the price was way to high for me as a sometimes tower -- just like every other diesel on the market. I guess I'm just too cheap!
