2014 Chevy 2500 V8 6.0

Upgrading my GMC 2010 1500 5.3 liter Sierra tomorrow to 2014 Chevy 2500HD 6.0 V8 LT whoo hoo. My 1500 towing capacity was 6700lbs and my 25ft 2007 Safari weighed in at 5400lbs dry. The 1500 did great on our flat roads through Florida. Now we are venturing further out of state and are heading to the Great Smoky Mountains this summer. For safety reasons I thought i'd upgrade to the 2500. The Chevy can tow over 10000lbs and the payload is over 3000lbs compared to the 1500's 1400lbs. Chevy right now were offering great rebates on the 2014 2500 as the model changes for 2015.
Does anyone tow a similar size Airstream with the 2500 Chevy 6.0 Gasoline engine and how do you like it?

You will be impressed, I recently purchased our new to us 2008 30fb and had a 2000 mile round trip. I was very nervous anticipating the 1K mile tow back home. I also upgraded to the same truck but a 2011, (same platform as your 14) Within the first hour I was all smiles. This truck had total control of every aspect of this tow home, from accelerating to braking the performance was outstanding. Mileage wise I got 16 mpg there and 10 towing back, I kept my speed at 62 both ways. I am very pleased with both my 2500HD and AS. Enjoy.

Great news, that extra payload will allow you to truly load up the truck and trailer and travel without worry, and that V8 will make it fun to pull!

Recently bought a 2500HD with 6.0 Ltr. THEN we could look for our Airstream. Find someone to tune it up correctly as GM seems to run the engine very lean. Found a guy locally who reprogrammed the chip to give 50 more HP and 70 more Lb.ft. We can hardly tell the 24' trailer is behind us.
You will really like this setup.

I've got the 2500 chassis with the 6.0 in my 2012 3/4 ton Suburban. It pulls the 25' EB easily. You didn't not your rear-end ratio but ours is the 3.73.

I've found it to be thirstier than the 5.3 from our 2010 1/2 ton when not towing but slightly better milage when towing. I really only use tow/haul mode when in the hills; it's just not necessary most of the time. Welcome to peace of mind.

My Chevy 2500 is the 6.0L HD model and it has a 4.10 rear end. It tows anything really well. Our AS is less than 4000 lbs so we expect no problems. With a tune up I can get up to 16 mpg on the highway which is way better than some friends are getting with the same setup.
We haven't towed the AS anywhere but back from the ocean where we bought it. I'm very excited to try out the leveling hitch and equalizer. That should make it even better.
