2011 Nissan Quest to get 300HP

Teased: Nissan Quest

300HP , plus 5 inches added to the width. That should make it about 80in wide. To call this vehicle a Mini Van is just wrong.

As many of you may recall our 1993, 150HP Nissan Quest turned out to be a very good TV for our 23'. The new 2011 with twice the power should/could be nice improvement over our 93 in towing ability.

I think I found what tow vehicle I want to replace my Impala with whenever it finally dies.! I am sure it will tow my future 29 ft airstream with ease.

Thanks for the info!

The new generation Quest will have the same powerplant as the 370Z... Pretty cool for a minivan to have the heart of a sports car, no matter how strange it may seem.

Lots of power for sure.

Even looking back a few years to the 260 HP 3.5 engine in the FX35. For a 2 ton+ vehicle it was very quick getting the 3,500 lb trailer up to 60MPH.

The new Quest (depending on gearing) will probably be even quicker.

I'm sorry. I don't care if it has a jet engine. I could never get into a minivan.

Well, we all like different types of ride, I suppose. Personally, I woudn't drive a truck if you paid me.

Well, now maybe if you paid me, I would...

Aage. It's no secret I have no interest in trucks either. But (and there is always a but) lol........... back about 10 years ago we were traveling on a country road in New Brunswick and I could see a black vehicle coming up behind us fast. Thought it might be a cruiser (as in Police car) so I slowed down a pinch.
Well this brand new shinny, black Ford Lightning went by us like we were standing still. What a sound! What a sight!....

It's the vehicle, not the brand. I have never liked minivans since I first saw one thirty years ago.

Road Ruler, did you see the rumor in that linked article - an all-wheel-drive Infiniti version of the van? That would be sweet...(and probably a sales flop if it actually came true, but still...)

Yes Brian, there are many who feel the same way. Whether it is the look, the size, the soccer mom persona, the FWD,?? they have limited popularity. Personal taste is what it is and that is OK.

I guess I have always bucked the trends....
When my buddies were buying Mustang's and Camaro's I was driving Austin Mini's.
When the Ford's, GM's and Mopars were big I was buying AMC (AMX).
When the gas crisis was on and everyone was buying Pinto's and Vega's I bought a 427 Corvette.
Now when my Pals all own SOB's I have an Airstream.

Tom
QUOTE:Another rumor is that there will be an all-wheel-drive-only Infiniti version of the van released later in 2011, which would give Nissan's luxury division its first minivan.QUOTE:

You are right Tom.... I missed that when I first skimmed over the article. With the sales falling off with the large, heavy, traditional SUV's one would think there may be a market for these new vans which could take their place as people haulers and possible TV's??

I tell you - that Ford Flex (Big Station Wagon \ Squished Mini Van) kinda fits that description - and it too comes with "All-Wheel Drive" as an option....

Could you imagine that with a full frame and diesel?

An nice new smooth running economical diesel might be nice JF but the jury is still out on the full frame idea.
