This is my first post on the Forum and I have to say I love the truck. Just got an 2011 F-350 turbo diesel myself. My wife and I are now headed to Oregon (from Phoenix) to take delivery of our new 27' Flying Cloud (our first trailer), so any words of wisdom would be much appreciated.
BTW, the mileage on my truck is great so far - about 18mpg on the highway.

It is a short bed.
You can install a aftermarket Titan tank for about 1200.00...it's a 50 gallon. It fits PERFECT!!! It's on my someday list. There is a video on Ford Truck Enthusists about how to install. 1 guy did it himself.
Post pictures when you get it.
What Color?
Don't get that ugly UPS brown....

Yes, go drive the Ford King Ranch 250. We knew we had found the perfect tow vehicle as it had all the extra goodies we could want and power to spare. It came home with us and met Happy our 06 classic. It was love at first tow. We had a truck drawer installed and a tonto cover for the bed. It gets incredible diesel mileage and it is so quiet that you would not believe that you are riding in a diesel.
CU, on the road

Definitely go with a short bed, and no we didn't win a lottery - savings and a desire to hit the road in an Airstream.

Thinking about the "Forrest Green" just because green is my favorite color, but the "Copper" looks pretty nice too.
Since it will be my daily driver (to the metro parking garage and back since I'm now commuting into downtown DC for work via the Subway) I'm looking at the "King Ranch" package....
Gonna most likely place the order next week - love your picture - short bed with lights on the roof - look into the extended tank at a latter date - the current tank is the same size as my T-Rex and I should get similar mileage when driving - going coast to coast a few times with the Airstream I'm needing to take a brake and refuel before I'm even close to out of fuel....
Still - the ideal of the larger tank is so enticing....

Be careful with the parking garage. With 20" wheels my F350 is almost 6'-10" from ground to top. Parking garages are typically around 6'8".

Luckily - at the Metro station that I use to go downtown to DC everyday and the BWI Train Station I use for my "once-a-week" Philly trips; I'm OK - but a bit wide (no dually for me as all the parking spots out here are skinny) but you are so right about being weary of height restrictions - I will never take this truck into a city parking garage - my T-Rex is almost too tall for some of our parking garages around here - it's not the main entrance and beams sometimes - but the low hanging fire sprinklers and such....
Few years out in the DC area - and I'll head back West, this time for good...

I get back to DC quite a bit on business. Driving a big truck in that traffic is not something I would like to do on a regular basis.
My wife and I are headed to Oregon tomorrow up through western Nevada. I suspect there won't be too much traffic to worry about along that route.

They're just excited because FORD has re-entered the diesel pickup truck market for the first time since 2002.
And they're all boning up on having to maintain two different engine coolant systems. For starters.

We picked up our 2011 F250 Lariat on Dec. 23--Quite a Christmas. Retirement in 3 years-one goal done, one more to go-Trade the 20 ft. 2008 Safari SE for a 25 foot. Great truck--have one question--there is a whine for about a minute when starting up--the dealer said it was the turbo warming up--anyone else notice this? After a minute or so it goes away and is usually only on the initial start up.

Nice looking truck. Is the 10 mpg towing or solo? I assume this is the 6.4 engine.
BTW - you may want to check the spelling in your signature.......

I have the same, it's normal, mine sounds more like jet warming up. Doesn't happen when it not cold outside.

I love mine. Currently I'm averaging 14.1 mpg when pulling our Stream. But I usually have a kayak strapped on bed racks so I'm sure that doesn't help the aerodynamics.
I got the shortbed and yes, I miss my 33 gallon tank from my '06. That 26 gallon is a pain.
