Did you see HHendrix comments on his new diesel, on another thread? Sounds like the voice of experience:

I'm still a little confused about the mileage to empty calculator as it said I had 30 miles left but there was still 4.3 gallons left in the 37.5 gallon tank. Just a word of advice, don't run out of fuel. It's a major PIA. Took a very long time to purge air out of the system. If the mileage to empty calculator says 30 miles to empty, BELIEVE IT.

We rented a 2011 F350 with the new diesel in Houston to take our new AS home from the dealer. I was drag racing other trucks with it at red lights ( without the trailer). that thing will flat smoke the tires. And nobody beat the one I was driving at the red lights.

Original Post Update
It has now been 13 months since I purchased our 2011 F250 SD deisel and posted the original thread here. Since we purchased the truck we traded our Flying Cloud 27FB for the newer Flying Cloud 30 (actually about 31FT).
After putting 12,000 miles on the truck (about 4,000 w/trailer), I can still report that this is one solid, fun to drive truck that I would highly recommend. The rock solid towing ability, combined with the quiet comfort (according to my wife).
Possessing such a large margin of reserve tow capacity was my intention from the beginning, and I've been totally pleased with our truck and it's ability. You'll have no issue with any mountain pass, however step the incline or decent, and no crosswind or semi-passing will require two hands on the wheel.
My only grip is that some day Ford will be able to develop a suspension system without the live jumpy axles for every day driving. There are a number of quality electronic smart systems that would recognize when you have a load or don't, to improve non-loaded ride quality. This may be the one area that the GM products excel with their independent suspension, but overall the Ford is still my first choice by a wide margin. Plus I just like the way it looks.
Hope this helps,
Bill & Sheri Dettman

PS: Mileage update: When I keep the rev's under 1,500 under acceleration, my mileage jumps from 13 or 14 to 15 to 16 without trailer around town. Towing, I'm now averaging about 12.9 MPG in warm weather which increases to about 14.4 in cooler climates. With a heavier foot I loose 20% when towing.
PPS: Has anyone added a 50 gallon fuel replacement tank?

EpicCowLick has a few nice videos on things he's done to his SD, including adding the Titan Tank.
He just posted a video of changing his fuel filters and the fuel priming procedure at the end.

Back to the OP, I have driven the 2011, and yes I want one. They are only offering me 24,000 trade on my 07 Lariat. Thats what I owe. I got her at 3.9% financing, so I'm paying huge on the principle now.Since the 2010 are still on the lots and they are knocking 15,000 off sticker, I understand why they are offering me so little.NADA says trade in should be around the 30,000 mark. Gonna have to wait till this winter, or buy a 2011 in 2012. I can wait. My truck is awesome. I just like NEW things.....

Neither were/are silver or grey. The one in the pic above was tan..called Arizona beige. I like earth tones. On a side note i hate grey interior on a vehicle. Waay to many rent cars come that way.

I have a question: Why wouldn't you just add an auxillary fuel tank in the bed of the truck?
I added a 60 gallon unit to my 2010 Dodge 3500. The install was much easier. I plumbed it to where the fuel will flow as needed to the main tank. Now, I have a total fuel capacity of 97 gallons. All of which can be filled through the auxillary tank.
The auxillary tank is also less costly. Less than $1,000.00.
One more thing: It's kinda cool to fill both tanks and then drive for about 900 or so miles before the fuel gauge ever begins to move.

I have other things in the bed, but mostly because it is covered and would not be easy to access a fill cap.

Not arguing for or against, but I LOVE our additional 50 gallon tank (giving us 80 gal total capacity). Just hurtful when you fill up, great every other minute. Mine is a 2008 F250 short bed, not that it matters for this discussion.

I agree with you there. That was a concern for me, too. But, fortunately, our truck stays in the garage when we are home.

I made the mistake of driving one today. Wow!
I think it needs a permanent home; the wife disagrees.
I had to be towed in Monday night and went to the dealership shop to check on the progress on my '08. It was only natural to take a peek at these new ones...

I'm curious... you have an '08 and the difference is a wow? I have an '08 and love it - sounds interesting!

I love my '08 too. Though it let me down big time Monday.
I only spent about 15 minutes driving this one. The "wow" is associated with a notable improvement in take off power, turbo performance and smoother shifting than my '08. In addition, the cabin is much quieter and the ride in the FX4 model is better than my std 4X4. Other things I like include: center console heating/air vents for rear, headrests, seat coolers, inverter, rear seat storage compartments, and the electronics.
Salesperson did offer this - which I thought was interesting; "you won't notice much improvement, if any, in fuel economy than what you have in your 2008 - which has been a bit of a dissappointment with these new engines".

Wish I could get mine in the garage. Actually I meant the truck bed has a tonneau cover. 50 gallons is enough for me and I would rather use the space under the truck than the dry storage in the bed.

OK, so I love my Big Red diesel truck, but at times the shifting seemed pretty hard when not towing. I was reading on the truck forums about TSB-11-04-21 and took mine in this morning for the reflash on the PCM & TCM. Knowing I was going to take it in, I've been paying real close attention to how it acts (when cold & warm) and now after only 20 miles in stop/go 5pm traffic I can tell it's shifting a lot smoother. Before, when coasting along in 2nd then light acceleration would give me a pretty hard shift into 3rd. We'll see how it goes the next couple weeks. I'll being towing a few hundred miles in 2 weeks. All trucks built after 4-21-11 already have this version of code.

Yep...the 2011 F250 diesel is a WOW!! Purchased one when they first came out late last summer. Tow my 27FB Int with a ProPride. You can hardly tell it's back there...except for the extra gas it burns up. However, on a recent trip from Michigan to North Carolina I got 17.4 average fuel economy with the Stream behind me. Incredible!!! That TSB-11-04-21...is that a reflash on the new diesel in the F250??
