2011 F250 Clearance/side LIGHT swap...

Before:

RECON:

EASY, install. Quality is excellent. Just as heavy and thick as factory on the clearance lights.

Looks great, IMO.

What do you guys think?

Just installed them so I'll look at night. They appear to be a little bit darker because of the smoked lenses. Not enought to matter.

By the way, I already had the clearance lights factory installed and just changed out the lenses.

I prefer the amber color myself but I must admit the black coordinates with your running boards and colors of your truck. I installed aftermarket roof marker lights and after 3 months the bulbs started burning out. They were cheap bulbs as the glass separated from the metal when removing them. A new set of sylvania bulbs did the trick.

THEPILL I have a question for you....on your truck, does opening your tailgate trip your alarm? My tailgate lock is not connected to my alarm system. I'm asking becuase someone popped open my driver side door with a screwdriver in an attempt to either steal the truck or rob the contents. Fortunately for me the alarm tripped when the door opened and the burglar gave up without stealing anything inside or in the bed....just left me with a $1000 repair bill. I am going to ask Ford if they can wire my tailgate to the system so that if it is opened while the alarm is engaged it will sound off.

I dunno Shane I guess it will take some getting used to. From a distance annd at a glance they look like blobs of mud on the roof, I'm just so used to seeing the amber ones.
BTW when are you going to get some Bling for the rig. Mirror caps, door handles, gas cap etc or do you not like that look?

Don't like the BLING. Thats why I ordered my truck without the chrome package. Don't like the chrome mirror covers.Chromeing the tow hooks is senseless and a chrome exhaust tip....almost laughable. Looks awful.

The only thing I want shining with bling is my Airstream.

No, my tailgate is not alarm activated. I do have a lock on it though. With the remote backup camera in it, I know this is a highly desierable tailgate, so your idea has a lot of merit. For now I keep it locked...ALWAYS.

Would you let me know what Ford says about the tailgate alarm. Maybe a motion or shock sensor could be installed??
Thanks.

Sorry about the 1000.00 repair...I HATE thieves!!!!! Silver lining, coulda been worse, right?

Pace Edwards, and maybe others make a tail gate lock that intregrates with the Ford auto door locks, so when your truck doors are locked so is the tailgate, when you unlock the doors it also unlocks the tailgate. However I don't think it integrates with the alarm system. Also can't install it if you have the tailgate step.

Just an idea that I use to help protect my tailgates on my trucks is pretty simple.
On the side where the notch is located to enable you to remove the tailgate you just band it with a stainless steel adjustable band hose clamp over the notch on the socket that the door rotates in. A heavy duty nylon tie strap also works well. You have to remove it to take off the tailgate. I think it would slow a thief down, or at least leave him scratching his head wondering why the tailgate won't come off. and just move on to the next tailgate.
I've had one on my trucks tailgates since 84, and so far so good.

i LIKE the chromed tow hooks and genuine chrome tie downs in the bed...

dat's good bling@!

the new tailgates have a tab in the lower right section that makes RAPID removal harder...

i'm sure thieves can get past it...

while they are stealing those husky mudflaps and smoked window deflectors (from egr or avs)

but they sure won't want those butt ugle running boards.

(see the blinker light swap WAS easy...)

now U just need to DEbadge those texas sized belt buckle things on the front doors...

man those new p/s emblems are nasty looking.

cheers

Well on the tow hooks being chrome, I actually use mine with a chain and after they get scratched,..well they rust and look awful.

On the Nfab steps, after several Superduty steps <ugly, btw> That I've broken going off road, these steps give me a lot more ground clearance. But if all you do is stay on the highway, then well you don't need them.

All of your comments are funny...and I thought you were a logiacl person....

no way!

don't wanna get the tires dirty.

and the chromed front tow loops improve aerodynamics...

same for the shinny mirror caps and running boards,

bling being slick and all that.

i'm getting 30 mpg now easy.

like the guy dreamin' in his cummins...

must be the topper and wax.

cheers

You know that Ford and Airtsream are teaming up. They are just following our lead and hitching the best TT ever made to the best TV ever made.
