2008 Tundra & 2008 Land Cruiser TV advice

We retired the 2000 LC with the 4.7L engine that was never used to tow our 23 foot Safari. I felt it would have been borderline in capacity for towing and would have been overloaded at the hitch. I was sad to sell the 2006 Tundra 4.7L 4x4, with discs up front and drums in the rear, which was an excellent tow vehicle for our trailer... anywhere and no mechanical problems at any elevation. After 25,000 miles of towing the Airstream with the 2006 Tundra, the extra horsepower offered by the current 5.7L engine would be more suited to our high Rockies elevation towing and the the inherent power loss at high elevation and thin air.

We replaced these two vehicles with the 5.7L engines vehicles. More of a long term outlook for pulling our Airstream and local driving. East of the Rockies towing for the LC and western towing for the Tundra. I need some advice from those of you with the later model LC and Tundra for placement of the Brake Controller and Brand that seems to be compatible. I read about the Prodigy brake controller being used in a 2007 Tundra on the forum. I used a Tekonsha Voyager in the 2006 Tundra, but have not compared the plugs with the factory included plug and wiring to see if it is still compatible with the 2008 models...

Any suggestions? I will report my experiences once the camping season begins for us and the vehicles get their workout.

Hi Ray,

I have an 07 Tundra and a Prodigy brake controller. Its mounted on the right
side of the steering wheel where the dash curves under. Not quite as good as the recess on the previous Tundras, but it works. Easy to reach and my legs never hit it.

Location Break Controller

My Tekonsha P3 is mounted just to the right of the steering column.

Maybe not the best location because I have to peak around the steering column to see it, but it works.

Not a lot of choices.
