Gregory, sorry for the late reply. The Touareg and the Bambi and a fantastic setup. Charging hills, passing power and towing comfort are all there. You can manually shift the auto transmission (VW calls this tiptronic) to better hold hills, and the brakes are a best in class 330mm Brembro six piston systemon the V8 and a 350mm on the V10 TDI diesel. A brake controller can easily be added to the Touareg, at least as long as it is a pre-2007 model. The Touareg will need a set of add on towing mirrors.

Is the Touareg you are looking at (or have purchased?) have air suspension? Make sure that you get some kind a sway control system for the hitch. Weight distribution (WD) is not needed with the air suspension since the vehicle will self level. WD will also fight with the air suspension system, since they are both trying to do the same thing. Also make sure the Touareg is a late VIN model of at least 55,000 or higher due to early model bugs. Better yet, see if you can find a lease return 2006, you will a bug free (is there such a thing in a german vehicle???) vehicle and a backup camera if you get the NAV system package.

In October we purchased a 19' Bambi and a 2007 Pathfinder. We towed it back to Medford, OR from Eugene without incident. It seems like a fine and dandy combo for us. I'd have gone for something a bit larger for a TV but my DH was opposed. So, we'll see! Can't wait to take it out there once the weather becomes amenable.

Xterra not a Pathfinder

Thats a Nissan Xterra not a Pathfinder in the accident photo.
5000 lb tow capacity.
That trailer has duel axels therefore it is not a 19ft.
We have a 2006 Pathfinder with a 19ft Bambi and have towed it On the praires and in the mountains with no problems. We can cruise along @ 65 no probs.
