Question 1999 Chevy z71 Tahoe

I found a 99 chevy Tahoe z71- 5.7/3.73 rear with 60,000 miles. Super clean.

Will we have any problems towing my 66 safari ?
Anyone here tow with a 5.7 Tahoe?

I have a Reese weight distributing hitch with sway bars.

I know it has short wheel base but it's a sweet vehicle ...

I don't think that you will have any problems with a '99 K1500 Tahoe. With the 3.73 differentials, the factory trailer towing rating was either 6,000 or 6,500 pounds. The Z71 suspension package is very unforgiving so you will want to use the lightest weight distributing bars that you can find . . . no heavier than the 600 pound models. You may also find that you will need a deep drop draw bar as my K1500 with Z71 required the deepest drop Reese drawbar that was made at the time.

Good luck with your investigation!

Kevin

P.S.: My Overlander (6,100 pounds) was far too much for my K1500 (insufficient power for mountains), but I believe that you will have adequate power for your Safari.

Greetings & Salutations! My wife has a '97 Tahoe Z71 that we tow a '75 24' Argosy with.

Does just fine. We had the trans custom rebuilt recently for up to 10,000# towing. Works just fine.
