Anyone here tow with a 5.7 Tahoe?
I have a Reese weight distributing hitch with sway bars.
I know it has short wheel base but it's a sweet vehicle ...
I don't think that you will have any problems with a '99 K1500 Tahoe. With the 3.73 differentials, the factory trailer towing rating was either 6,000 or 6,500 pounds. The Z71 suspension package is very unforgiving so you will want to use the lightest weight distributing bars that you can find . . . no heavier than the 600 pound models. You may also find that you will need a deep drop draw bar as my K1500 with Z71 required the deepest drop Reese drawbar that was made at the time.
Good luck with your investigation!
P.S.: My Overlander (6,100 pounds) was far too much for my K1500 (insufficient power for mountains), but I believe that you will have adequate power for your Safari.
