1961 Dodge 100

Could this be the original Chrysler mini van or was it a Suburban wanabe??

Saw this for sale on our local Kijiji ads.

Interesting that it has only a slant six. Would this be the original engine that came in the vehicle? Wonder about the tow rating?

They put the 225 in many fleet vehicles back in the day. They were reliable, had good fuel economy, and were easy to maintain (unless you were working on the distributor). Tow capacity would probably be higher than you would think, though a 318 would probably be a better choice.

I had an early Dodge similar to that, though it was 4x4 with 17" wheels,I think it was called a Country Cruiser or something like that. I had the 318 big block ,in granny gear it would pull about anything. Dave

For sure the 225 had grunt.

My buddy had a brand new 1964 Valiant rag with the 225. He installed a turbo charger (off a Covair). I recall his wife was leaving our place with the car one day.

Left foot on the brake, right foot on the gas, smoking tires. Wha-la!!
