1/2 Ton Silverado enough?

I using a 2008 f150 with a 5.4 and 373 gears pullung a 2004 28 safari. Not much heavier than yours. If you have not towed before I suggest short trips on roads you know well and work up to a comfort level. Towing requires a different mind set with more concentration and less distractions such as cell phones etc.

In any case enjoy, do frequent walk arounds to check the rig and most important. HAVE FUN. Currently on a 7500 mile trip from Michigan to San Diego and back/ doing the same thing in Feb. Love it.

[Now with say an Equalizer WD Hitch or a Reese Dual Cam sway control and a prodigy brake controller with all 4 wheels braking on the trailer would i be in the range of "comfortable towing"?]

I have a 07 crew cab with the 5.3, with 3.42 gears and an equalizer hitch and prodigy brake controler. It tows my 06 23ft great, very very stable. I have had to put my foot to the floor with the brake in tenn when a hay pulling tractor pulled right out in front of me. I thought to myself there is no way i could stop, but it stopped flawless. I still can't believe we stopped so fast. Also, the towing gas mileage is great, at 75++ i get 12.7 to 12.8 Coming home from the N Georgia rally i decided to go a little slower, 55 to 65 except down hill. I got an awesome 15.8 MPG for our 7 hour trip.

I would say your truck will have no problem towing about 6k like my AS is when full with our stuff. IMO that truck is under rated. I've got over 10k on this truck while towing, even on very windy and rainy conditions on Rt 10 in texas it was great at 75+.

Seems reasonable. You can read some of my past post on our 08 f150. I truly feel the new 1/2 tons are a step ahead of the past. I am learning more about hitches and our dual cam seems to be respected in the industry. I like it. Good luck.
