'09 & '10 Dodge RAM 1500 Towing Mirrors

After running into frustration with not being able to find OEM style towing mirrors for our 1/2 ton pickup truck, the folks at the local Chrysler dealer told me that the 1/2 ton pickups have the same doors at the 3/4 ton pickups, so the OEM style towing mirrors for the 3/4 ton trucks would fit my 1/2 ton truck. However, buying them from Dodge was terribly expensive (more than $900 for the pair). Before biting the bullet and ordering them from Dodge, I used this new-found knowledge and searched the internet some more. Lo and behold, I found these:

We bought them last January, and I finally installed them last month (they were sitting in our garage for a couple of months). Installation was very simple, even though they came with no installation instructions at all. The mirrors are bolted to the door with 3 bolts, and then there are two electrical connections made almost in the center of the door. So, you do need to remove the inner door panel, but that comes off really easily too.

We used them for the first time towing over Memorial weekend. They are great! Solid, with no vibration in the mirror at all, so they give a very clear view down each side of the trailer. Once nice thing that I wasn’t expecting, was when you flip the mirrors to the tow position, the control switch in the cab still moves them up, down, left, and right even though the mirror is now rotated 90 degrees. In other words, move the control to the left, and the mirror moves to the left no matter what position it's in (towing or normal).

Our original mirrors and these have the 4 options: puddle lights, turn signals, remote control, and heated. The website has other models of these mirrors with different combinations of these options in case you don’t need them all.

After using the slip-on and clamp-on type mirrors for many years and not being happy with any of them with our '09 truck, these are absolutely, totally worth the money.

I should note that they do not survive a drop onto concrete from 5 feet... Needed to buy a third mirror after that mishap.

I have them on my 2011 1500 Dodge. great mirrors, but mirrors and truck too wide to fit through garage door; 9X7. I have to fold one in to get through door. PITA

Our truck doesn't fit in the garage, so no problem. You'll have to park your mustang there instead like we do!

My 2012 Dodge came with those factory flip tow mirrors. They are wonderful and the image stays clear when moving.

I used the Hensley McKesh strap on mirrors on the Mercedes and the vibration made for fuzzy images when moving. There was also optical confusion having two mirrors side by side displaying slightly different information when backing the trailer into the narrow storage parking space. The space is 10' wide and the Airstream is 8.5' wide, so there is little margin for error.
