We had more snow today - and really frigid temps. We're supposed to stay like this tomorrow - then 40s, 50s, & 60s for the next week. That rapid a change in the Midwest just smacks of tornado weather - so everyone - "HEADS UP"!!!!!

Crazy crazy weather!!

The screendump from the weather channel in my post above forecast a low of -5 for us for this morning. Wrong again. We just can't seem to get out of the bargain basement.

I think of New Mexico as a mild climate. I'm gonna have to reset my fantasy compass.

I sure like the New Mexico food. I stopped at a diner there on my way home from Arizona and they had a woman frying fresh flat bread on a griddle. I swear, I woulda married her . . . that bread waz that good!

Good Bread

Splitrock

1: I also thought it was down south?????????????
2: That bread may have "stuff" in it??? Did the rest of your day seem great also?
3: All big decisions should be slept on before commitment!

The trick is that New Mexico spans a good number of climate zones: From low, desertlike climate in some parts in the south to alpine climate in some parts of the north. Maria happen to live in one of the high, alpine zones of the state. And, at the moment, wishing we were down in one of the low, desertlike zones.

I think they were flour tortillas. They were thicker than I had before and not burned or tough either. It may be like my first date . . . I remember it better than it really was.

I liked Albuquerque a lot too. The people were nice, the food was good, and it was really easy to get around town. I'm such a good traveler. It a shame I have to sit up here stuck in a block of solid ice.

That must have been a long time ago. Albuquerque is now typified by sprawl and stretches a gazillion miles in every direction (overstatement alert).

There's a difference between climate and weather. Climate is long term, weather today, this week. Climate change does not mean it'll never be cold or snow—well, maybe in 100 years (wanna bet on the climate in 2111?).

Could be Polar Shift causing more storms and junk.

The movement of the magnetic poles has recently accelerated to 40 km per year.

Hi Gene,

I was in Albuquerque in 1994 during the summer on motorcycle. I spent most of a week there. I enjoyed it a lot. I was last there in 2003 in January. That was the trip where I hooked up with the fine food and had the fantasy romance with the cook. For me, no amount of advertising for a city or a state can make a better promotion for a location than friendly people, good service, and great food. I found all that in New Mexico.

I also found those same things in Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Arizona. I even got a waitress to smile at me in Fargo once.

Are you guys living in your Airstreams? We are living in our '88 Avion. Last week we had a blizzard and 8" of snow. It was almost all melted then Tuesday night / Wednesday morning we had 17" of snow and then last night ( Wednesday night) it got down to -24 degrees. Yes that was negative! The coldest I've ever had in the trailer. Our water is still unfrozen but our son who lives next to us in an 5th wheel has been frozen for days. We are using 2 space heaters but used 20lbs. of propane last night. Our son's LP tank regulator froze up on one side. I'm ready to move to the equator!

Springfield, MO - and we're fighting the same battle. You guys did get it worse than we did with this last round.

We're in a '90 Excella 100 34 - and we do good until we drop below zero - and the tanks switch - then we get Mercam sooting on the ignitor and burner and the furnace has to be cleaned out (soot) - then we relight and start all over. I'll be grateful for nights where it stays above zero.......teens seems to work ok. New furnace is definitely in the agenda this summer (don't want to do this next year but am trying to get through this winter).

We only froze partially once......lastnight. I turned off the water trickle and the kitchen faucet stopped - but all I had to do was open the cabinet door and open the other faucets - only took about 2 minutes. Water has been running ever since. Do you have your lines heat taped/insulated?

Good news - weather is going to be better this weekend and next week!!!

Hopefully this will be our last cold night for a while. Next week we're supposed to see 40s, 50s, and 60s (I'll be grilling outside)!!! Really losing my sense of humor with this weather -

Didn't know a regulator could 'freeze'.......but everything else has.........

Next summer we're updating the furnace - the only old parts left are the burner, ignitor, and circuit board. Its been in/out a bunch of times now - . When the temps get zero or below, the furnace cycles - but won't lite. That means, out of bed in the middle of the night to take off the door and clean the Mercam off the burner and ignitor. Sometimes it tries to lite, then just blows cold air - which means getting up, turning it off, and letting it try to lite again - which is more annoying than anything else. So far it has restarted - but I think I'm acquiring a habit of sleeping with one eye open - and cruising the internet all night.............seems to mainly act up in the middle of the night.........

So, new furnace is on the agenda - just trying to hold out this winter.......and hopefully they'll go on sale and we'll save a little bit too -
