We always went to Texas Rio Grande Valley from here in Southern Ontario. Great people and no where near as expensive Florida. We did not like Florida either. If we were able to continue I would definitely look into the Airstream TAHI park. It is a bit further north than we are used to and it will have some cold days in January but not more than north Florida or south Georgia. We did stay at Travelers Rest in Florida once. Nice park but at the time it was nearly $900 per month in Jan and Feb whereas Texas was running $400 $500 per month with just as many activities.

If you would be willing to join WBCCI, there is a unit in Texas— Texas Gulf Coast Unit— that owns an Airstream-only park— Texas Airstream Harbor, Inc. (TAHI)— on the shore of Sam Rayburn Lake near Zavala, TX. I don't belong to that unit, so I don't know if they have lots for sale or long-term lease, but you can check it out. Contact info: My Road Trip.

Like most campgrounds south of I-20 it's open year-round.

Escape Winter

I do not know where you lived in Florida previously, but you should check Camper's Holiday out. The left coast has a lot to offer. Come stay in the campground for a month or two and I believe you will be hooked.

If you didn't live in N Fl, you didn't live in Fl. South Fl is either NY south or Cuba north, meaning crowded and fast living.

Arizona was our choice after much research and traveling. We don't do very well in humid climates.

We lived in Hudson Florida just off of highway 19 ...I hated that we were there 5 years and all we wanted to do was come back home......then we spent a winter there also 9 years ago.........still didn't like Not our cup of tea I guess. We lived in New Braunfels Tx. 34 years ago for a few son was born was ok but the area to me was expensive to live in back then.We have family there now....they went to visit us and never He isn't all that thrilled with the Texas idea but not as bad as Florida. I read a little bit ago about the weather in Alabama and Mississippi ......ever hear of Dixie Alley?......F5 tornados and Alabama even has TWO tornado seasons.......ok, second thoughts on these places.. lol

Debora, when speaking of tornados in Mississippi you are generally speaking of the northern part of the state. Tornados are rare on the coast.

Do you know what a learning experience is? A learning experience is one of those things that says "You know that thing that you just did? Don't do that."

If we weren't wanting buy a small lot this might be easier. Moving around each winter could prove to be expensive though.

I live on the Big Bend near Ga state line and love it. Small towns friendly people 23 miles from Tallahassee and all the goings on there. Totally agree with B00merang
