Rivet Winter Weather

How’s everyone making out? There was no precipitation at all this morning. It started to accumulate around 11:00am and this was about 2:30. Little Rock is getting its share of winter weather this time. You can certainly tell which Airstream has the heat on.

Winter Weather

Greetings Vaughan!

Our snow started about 3:30 a.m. as very light flurries with about 1.5" accumulating by 7:00 a.m. It has been an interesting day -- about half of our schools didn't open this morning, but the others were in-session today. The school where I teach dismissed at Noon -- concern was icy side roads where the buses must operate.

We made it through most of the winter with little indication that it was winter -- that is until we approached mid-February. We had back-to-back ice storms about a week apart. The first was far worse than the second, with many people in our area being without electricity for five or six days -- we considered ourselves fortunate as our electricity was off less than twelve hours.

We only have one week of school left before our spring break -- I had planned to get the Airstream out for an early spring expedition, but I am not sure that the weather is going to cooperate.

the freezing mix is just starting here in Vicksburg. The only effect likely here is a rush on the grocery stores and drivers loosing all common sense.

Hi Kevin,

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where I work, closes whenever the Little Rock School District closes. We had snow and sleet Tuesday and nothing closed. It did clear off by that afternoon. When I got up this morning, there was nothing so I didn’t even check. Just went in to work. There was only 1 car in the parking lot.

As you can see from the photo, it looks like the right decision. The roads are definitely slick. I spun most of the way up the slight hill to get to my place. It’s a steeper on the other side from where I stood to take the picture, but it is in no way a big hill.

Gene:

I'd be more than happy to store one of those Classics (around a 28-30 foot) in my driveway for you for awhile. It's pretty here in Texas this afternoon (it wasn't yesterday).

The storm passed us a couple of days ago. We got about a foot and a half of the dreaded white stuff out of it. Added to what we already had, and given some drifting in the wind, the snow is about 5 to 7 deep feet near the house, and 7 to 9 feet near the garage.

I could use some sunshine and warm temps!
