Recommended RV parks southwest

O.K. 3 times a charm, I'm asking Airstreamers for the 3rd time for their recommendations for 55+ RV parks in the Tucson area, Yuma & the Palm Springs area. Next year will be our first time snow birding & we'd like to hear recommendations from fellow Airstreamers. I know you have opinions, I'd like to hear them. Thank you so much.

Last year we stayed at a park right outside Palm Springs in Cathedral City called Outdoor Resorts. We're normally state park campers but this place was nice! We're going back for a week this year. We've also stayed at SAMs family resort in Desert Springs ( right outside Palm Springs ) for an Airstream rally. This place has a more casual, less manicured feel but felt a little run down. Spas there were nice but trailers were too close together for our liking. A lot of people love this place though, so you may want to check it out. Don't think it's 55 plus though, not sure.

Lazy Days - vote 2 for that park. The staff is awesome, the facilities are clean and great, our spot had an orange tree, which are all over the park, and there are lemon trees around. We would have people stop and pick fresh oranges all the time. Two pools, a laundry facility with tons of machines that actually work and - an on-site restaurant / lounge with food that is edible and affordable and we had food trucks come in on occasion when we were there. There is also of course an Airstream dealer in walking distance. They work with people that are staying for extended periods also. Location is great for the local attractions and close to the freeway to get out of town for a day trip

Gilbert Ray State Park near Saguaro National Park is lovely, but I don't know how long people can stay there. Great sites, with amazing views of the desert.

We are spending our second winter season at Voyager RV Resort in Tucson. We came on a recommendation from strangers when in Florida and we LOVE it!

I am not from that area and have limited experience there, but I am very impressed with the AZ State Parks. Your 23 foot fig should fit just about anywhere. Picacho Peak State Park about 40 miles west of Tucson just off I-10 is impressive. Length of stay might vary over time, but the rig next to me on 2 Jan 2017 was there for 14 days (reserved ahead). They had been to Catalina SP and others in the area for two weeks at a whack.

If you are looking for longer term, the folks at DeAnza RV Park about 40 miles south of Tucson on I-19 are nice and they have a 38.000 sf club house at Amado. It used to be a Greyhound race track.

Far Horizons in SE Tucson. Haven't stayed at Catalina SP in NW Tucson yet, but did a drive through several months ago and it is very nice. Can't help on Palm Springs.

Also recommend Voyager RV Resort just south of Tucson, we are here for three months after touring other parts of the Southwest. Great older park with lots of stuff going on, great community of friends. Sign up early for Early Bird pricing, or check Thousand Trails camping club for a great deal on the park.

A more upscale RV Resort is Palm Creek at Casa Grande, very nice resort with especially nice golf course and pickle ball facilities, and well as hobby shops, ballroom etc.

We have stayed at the State Parks and enjoyed the natural features very much, a good system is too plan a mix of these for hiking and enjoying nature, and the RV Resorts for having a helluva good time with fellow snowbirds (who will become very good friends that often lead to summer travel and visits).

The plan we enjoy most is to travel a different route each winter to a destination, see and do something new every time, and then settle in for a few months to enjoy weather and friends.

We like to use Google Maps, we just center in on an area and search for parks or resorts. If you use the 3D earth view and zoom in, you can really get a feel for the nice ones and the ones that are more cramped or just plain dumpy.

Know this is an older thread but thought I'd keep it going...we started last winter at the CanAm Sundance park in Yuma. The common facilities (pool, sports courts etc.) had just been done the year before and although the park is an older one and the roads are crappy, we had a great time! The folks that are regular RV'ers there are great and made us newbs feel very welcome. We only stayed Jan 2017 but will definitely go back sometime.
