It's SNOWING outside

I'm here camping at the Brooklyn Lake campground in the Snowy Range outside of Laramie, Wyoming.

5 day ago it was in the 80's. (image 3 & 4)

Today, 28 degrees and a snow storm.

It's wild!

I'm jealous as we sit here in hot and muggy Jacksonville.

It has been getting colder at evening the past couple of weeks. We think we will be having an early fall and winter this year. Guess the snow in the Snowy Range verifies it.

We will be seeing you in Quartzsite this year. We are anxious to meet you.

Howdy Michael! We tent camped there in early July 1975. It was just as cold then I believe -- nights in the twenties. I recall snow crocus blooming at the edges of an awful lot of snow that was only slowly giving way to summer. Stepping in the snow left a pink foot imprint -- caused by algae living in the snow. I want to go back! Great photos by the way..

Hey Mike, welcome to Wyoming. And which side of the trailer was that? Other side was still in the 80's? ...there's an old song that goes something like that, but I don't think that's the Big Rock Candy Mountain in that pic.

Welcome to the Rockies!. It was 45 outside this morning and the local radar showed snow in the mountains. Glad I did not remove the tire chains from the truck bed.

If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes . . .

Hey Michael:

Ahhhh, Summertime in the Rockies. But the name of the range did give you a fair warning as to what your were in for. After all, names in the West have meaning. Isn't it grand to have something actually live up to its moniker? . We don't disappoint out here.

Anyway, a few days on the playla should be able to melt that mid-summer's night chill. As I recall, you also attracted a strong horizontal wind/rain/hail storm during your stay in Laramie. Thank goodness you don't chase tornadoes! Keep up your weatherous adventures.

Thumbs up wildlife

Thank you for the nice comments on the Mirror Lake images.

Many of you know I'll be headed to the Burning Man Festival in Nevada from here.

This morning, in 27 degree temps, I'm on the roof shoveling snow off my solar panels.

In 2 weeks, I'll be shoveling Playa dust off my solar panels in triple digits temp.

In both cases, the landscape and wildlife will look very, very different from the roof

It's a wild, wild life
