Sal,

Climate change is a better term than global warming. The globe is getting warmer—average temperature records have been set most years in the past decade. But climate change also includes weather extremes which are caused by global warming. So, sometimes this means very low temps and lots of snow and vicious storms, but the average is warmer and drier. And, some places may actually be wetter and cooler, but they are exceptions. Some point to glaciers that are growing, but they are the exception. Most are retreating, some markedly. For example, the Mendenhall Glacier near Juneau retreated a 1/2 mile in the two years before 2006—that's when we were there, but I don't know the latest. It doesn't take a big change in world average temperatures to make big changes in climate.

Had about 8" here (see avatar) at X-Mas. We've been in the teen's to mid 30's for the last month, now we're getting up to the high 40's. Whoo hoo!

doug&maggie: on post #70 you posted:

Hot Whiskey

1 shot Jameson's Irish Whiskey
1 teaspoon sugar
1 slice lemon, studded with 3 whole cloves
6 ounces boiling water, poured over and stirred

Well; add a tea bag before the Whiskey for a few, then you have a Hot Toddy! (but I have to admit, I leave out the sugar, just never have added it)

Jamesons

I believe it is a sin to add anything to Jamesons. St. Pattys Day DW makes Irish coffee. I drink mine the way The Good Lord made it. Sal. P.S. Thats as religious as I get.

Do you serve it up warm? Almost too cold here to type, yet I know it's colder elsewhere!

Just got back from Honduras and was complaining of our temp here, today 70 was the high but felt cold. Acclimation, humans can get used to anything.

It was a beautiful 68 here today. Tomorrow should be just as nice which is good since we are hoping to work on our Airstream all day.

Brag, brag, brag. Our temps are still between the 30's and 40's, possibly the high 40's, lucky if we hit 50 today. After the last 1 & 1/2 month, even the 50 sounds good!

We were kind of caught by surprise this morning. I was expecting something in the teens, but it was -4F at first sunlight. Even though it's warming fast now, starting low means that it's not going to warm that much. Which also means that I'm not going to freeze my bottom today by changing the oil in Maria's car.

Funny thing is we want to move to a colder climate like Montana or Colorado. Crazy? We were born in the desert and want 4 seasons.
