I don't know which is worse, having it it fall as dust or as mud. That SW flow, usually ends up causing rain and thunderstorms here. I never saw rain fall as mud before I moved here. I got spoiled by the the PNW's usually clean rain.

I would rather fry than freeze.

The only good snow is on post cards.

The wind you mentioned has started here, but not as bad as you will get, Gene.

Regards,

Ken

Ken, the dust usually ends as mud with just enough rain or snow to make it stick like cement, but not enough to wash it off, but the forecast is for no precip this time.

It look grey in the air, but is red clay. Makes good adobe.

Thanks gene,

Maybe we get different dirt. The stuff that ends up here is pretty much light tan when it drys.

The wind is really picking up here. I would say gusts to about 50-60. It is a Chinook wind, and has driven the temperature up to 87 already, yahoo!!!

Regards,

Ken

Another great 4th in Palmer Lake. Beautiful fireworks (best small town fireworks in Colorado) and 47 degrees. Love Colorado summer...

We were there on the north end of the lake and then the rains started and it was intense. We finally packed up and went back to Monument and I could hardly see on the way due to the rain and hail. All we saw on the TV was tornado and flood warnings! We had wondered if they still had the show and thanks for posting that they did. The first show we have missed in all the years of living here!

Yes - quite a 4th this year. We had massive thunderstorms yesterday afternoon that rolled in late here in Longmont/Boulder. Of course we woke up to spectacular weather this morning - clear sunny skies and perfect temps. I understand that the hail was pretty intense in Aurora and near DIA yesterday....

We watched the fireworks at the Boulder County Fairgrounds last night - they did the show regardless of weather.

Gotta love living in the Rockies!

Sandy

We traveled down I25 on the 3rd. We made a fuel stop in Monument and found a small farmers market at the exit. Everyone asked us if we were going to stay for the parade, but we had to keep traveling towards home. We are in Gallup, NM this morning.

Another great day to wake up in Colorado. The last significant snow we had here on the eastern slope was in October. This stuff looks great, but it's powder, so there isn't much water in it. Most of the yard has 2-1/2 feet of snow, or more. Zep

We got about a tenth of an inch from the same storm that hit the Front Range. Zep got as much snow as we've had all season.

The sky is Colorado blue with a few clouds over Grand Mesa. Another beautiful day, but we need more snow so we can send more water to California and Arizona next summer.

In Northern California, we try to grow our own water. Just sending us some snowstorms would be lovely, thanks.

When I have people in from California, they ask why I flood irrigate the pasture when I have sprinklers. Easy, I tell them, "this is water that won't go to Southern California"!

Kidding aside, we're here in SoCal right now and reading about a new subdivision that has been approved even though there is a shortage of water.
