Dometic runs with furnace?

So I'm new to this. I have set my t-stat to 73 degrees in both zones of our new FC
The hot air works fine through the ducts. But why do the Dual Dometic units turn on as well. Have I set the T-stat incorrectly?

Thanks for you help

Sounds like the heat pump is coming on not the propane heater.

You may need to do a hard reboot of your stat, per the Dometic manual that came with your AS owner's manual and related paperwork.

Here are the search results for Dometic thermostat hard reboot:

https://cse.google.com/cse?cx=011403...oot&gsc.page=1

This is a known issue, and the recent threads go into detail. Give it a shot and let us know if you are able to get it working right. You just need to perform a certain sequence of button-pushing on the stat.

Good luck!

Peter

PS see this recent thread for instance for a successful reboot with a similar heat pump issue:

PS2 welcome to the forum!

In my trailer the Zone 2 Dometic rooftop unit heat pump will run when the propane furnace is running on Zone 1 as long as it is above freezing/30-something degrees.
I like it this way. It keeps the trailer warmer.
I thought it was supposed to work this way...

I had a similar issue a year ago on D2 of our 3wk maiden voyage. Turn on furnace, furnace would fire, then almost immediately the HP/Cool unit would cycle on. Go figure. I had chalked it up to operator programming challenges. What have I done?

I was new to forums then and had no idea, this is apparent.y a recurring issue. Reading the manual I saw no clue except for the hard reboot. It worked and has been fine since. Full disclosure, other than the walk thru, I've never used the HP for either heat or cool. I'll do a full test this spring before the 2 year warranty lapses.

Heat pumps don't work well at lower temps, I believe the cutoff is somewhere around 38 degrees. That cues the furnace to start up until the temperature gets higher, then heat pump will hopefully maintain the set temperature. If very cold, units will cycle back and forth,

...or set the mode/system setting to automatic.
On this setting it should switch from heat pump to furnace automatically when it gets too cold for the heat pump to work properly.

Dometic runs with furnace?

Both units run because you have both zones turned on.
Each zone has its own temperature sensor.
To make only one unit run, set zone 1 or zone 2 to off.

The furnace runs as a furnace setting on the Dometic and only runs off one zone. The other zone should be off.

If I remember right our 30' FC the furnace was in the Zone 2 menu selection.

Yes, in the FC 30 Zone 1 is the bedroom or back and Zone 2 is the front or living room/kitchen.
My Classic 30 is opposite.
Zone 1 is the front or living room and Zone 2 is the back or bedroom.

The Dometic CCC II thermostat owner's manual is pretty basic and not very helpful...3
Dometic tech support telephone answerers are useless.
Try to get an employee at an RV dealer or repair shop to explain it to you/show it to you in a way you can understand.

Did you try a hard reboot of the stat, per Post #4?

If that did not work, maybe you could update us with the current situation.

Thanks,

Peter

So the folks at AS told me only 1 zone runs or has the furnace option
and to only run that single furnace setting for the heat. I can use the HP when its closer to 40 degrees. I haven't been out in the AS since last weekend and it's -25 degrees this morning. But I will check it out again on Sunday as it warms up here in Massachusetts. Thanks for your input.

What he said.

It's not just the CCC2, but seems to be all models of the Dometic electronic thermostat/air conditioner line. One of the other brand trailer manufacturers that we sell has sent out a bulletin about it.
