Camping at Bandelier NM & Chiricahua NM

Years ago I camped at Bandelier NM & Chiricahua NM in a pickup camper. I would love to return, but now we have a 2017 25' FC. I've read some of the reviews on line about narrow, winding roads & small campsites. One guy could not fit into any of the campsites at Chiricahua NM, but his rig was 30'. Another guy said he scraped this trailer on the narrow roads. I haven't heard from any Airstreamers about the roads or campsite conditions of these parks. Any comments would be appreciated?? If you were there what was your experience & how big was your Airstream?? The last thing we want to do is get in there & not be able to get out or have to turn around & leave. Thank you!

We were there in January with a 25' airstream. Yes, it is a little tight but take your time. We drove completely through the campground. Dragged the rear skid pads going through the depression area, but no tree branch damage.
We like the area and the view from the top of the mountain. Yes, it snowed on us but no problems.

We stayed at Bandelier two years ago before heading to BalloonFest in Albuquerque. It was late September and there were only about 15 RVs/trailers in the entire the campground.

We stayed at the back of the Coyote Loop at Juniper Campground which had multiple sites that were easy to back into and one pull-through. The other sites in that loop might have required more experience/skill to park in depending on rig length and TV. Some sites in Coyote Loop are far from level. We have a short bed/crew cab TV and a 28 foot trailer.

It was great weather-wise and we enjoyed our three day stay.

We just returned from our summer trip that included Bandelier. We have a 30’ Classic and could not find a decent site in the campground. My parents were with us in their 25’ Excella. They could find spots, but even those were tight. Apart from that, the campground looked great!

We wound up heading back down the mountain and we stayed in the parking lot of the visitors center in White Rock. Parking lot had at least electrical, and for a parking lot in town, was actually really nice (beware of the rattlesnake that lives in the bushes!). It’s nice, clean, and quiet and there’s a restaurant across the street next to the library that served a great dinner. (It’s called the Pig & Fig... I think.)

Also, while you’re in the area, unhook and drive through Valle Caldera one morning. Get there right as they open the gates & you’ll be rewarded with wildlife everywhere. The park rangers are all super nice and if it’s not too busy, will give you a tour of the place in their van.

We were at Bandelier with our 25FB in May. There are maybe ten sites that could fit our rig. Leveling blocks required in most.

Have had our 27' Serenity (which is 28') in both parks. It's just luck of the draw as to getting a spot where you can squeeze it in. And yes, lots of leveling required.
