Anza Borrego Springs area...FEB 2010
Looking to do about a month in the Anaza Borrego this winter (Feb) and suggestions on where to stay would be appreciated. This could be from a great RV park to out in the boondocks. Arizona Al.

We are staying at the Palm Canyon campground at Anza Borrego State Park over New Years weekend. Full hookups and close to Borrego Springs, for what that is worth.
There are other less developed campgrounds in the park as well as boondocking areas outside of the park.

You'll love Anza-Borrego in the winter...we were at Palm Canyon last year when Bill (Wkerfoot) was, along with several other Airstreamers... If you want to stay there be sure to check on space availability through the reservation system as it can get crowded at certain times in the winter...
There are also a couple of interesting parks in the San Diego County Park system in that general area (southwest of A-B) that you might check out... Valecito and Agua Caliente (no dogs allowed at this one)...we haven't stayed at these (yet) but we have friends who go to Vallecito regularly... We have stayed at Wm Heise (near Julian, CA in the mountains just west of A-B)... Here's a link for the San Diego County Parks...FYI County of San Diego: Camping Park Information
Have a great time!

Actually, it would be interesting to rotate through all of the parks in the desert. Each one has a little different 'flavor' and they're all pretty good. I haven't been to Anza Borrego in many years now, but I camped there regularly through the '80s...
Stay at Palm Canyon for a while, but when you get tired of the crowds, check out some of the San Diego County parks as well:

The best RV Park in Borrego Springs is also the best small park in the Nation
The Springs at Borrego is not only the best RV park in the area, it was recently named by the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds to be the 2009-2010 Small Park of the Year. Championship golf, saltwater swimming pool and hot spas, and spacious sites. Check it out at www.springsatborrego.com .

Thanks for the information on winter RVing at the Springs at Borrego. This is our very first ... newly retired with our 19ft. Bambi. We live in Oregon and wanted out Feb. thru Mar. Sooo we just booked our first two weeks at the Borrego RV park. Then we need to decide where to go from there. We want to end up in Sedona, AZ, then back home by the end of March. Any other ideas or input would be appreciated. We're just excited!!! Tx. The CreekPeople
